What exactly is NEST?

I have seen it advertised on this site, but I'm wondering exactly what it's about. Could somebody explain to me what it's about and what exactly goes on there? I obviously know that it's tickling related.. but I don't know much more than that...

There's actually a NEST subforum here, and another good source of information on this annual event, and a place to interact with attendees prior to and following, is the NEST group on FetLife. Also, there exists a subreddit for NEST.
