Ok friends, so I got to thinking...It does occur that a lot of us are dealing with some pretty heavy stuff as the holidays approach (be it random holiday blues, personal tragedy, sick family, etc..) My own nightmare being dealing with the aftermath of a car accident I was in two Fridays ago, but that's another story.... 😀 so I was trying to think of ways to cheer people up and I came up with this one...

What made you smile recently?

For me it was a little kid I saw on the drive home the other day, he was rolling around on the grass, just having the best time ever. It brought back memories of how the little things (as a kid) made me so happy. Also, those of you who know me well know how I totally whine about my long commute home on a daily basis but the first leg of my tour takes me through a really nice residential neighborhood (baseball player Steve Sachs lives here!) and I was admiring all the Christmas lights and marvelling about how creative people are!!! There's some very cool lighting options out there these days...

Your turn!🙂

XOXO

Just reading your post made me smile, Steph. You're the best! 🙂

One of my girls is the curious type that has to see everything, so she tries to follow my sister in the kitchen, tried to get up and walk, and falls flat on her butt. That was so cute. The funny thing was, she looked around, saw that we was looking at her, rolled her eyes and crawled in the kitchen😀

What's made me smile lately?

Last week when my nine yr old niece Madison said "I love you uncle Perry" 🙂

Watching the Atlanta Falcons celebrate after clinching the NFC south division title (a rare event indeed 😀

As the good doctor said....when I read your post Steph 🙂

I have to admit, there hasn't been much to smile about lately. However, there have been some things that have made my day...

One was Jester and Smurfie letting me see their beautiful baby on the webcam. Seeing her smile made me feel very good, indeed.

Another was taking a brand new TT through its paces, around some winding, steep roads not far from work. Nothing like an exhilirating drive in a great road car...the customer who took delivery's gotta be one happy dude.

I get a kick out of our tiger calico, who sits in her cat tree in the den, and attacks her tail. She tries to catch it in her claws and bite it. A couple of times, she's yelped in pain from catching the tail in her claws, but it hasn't stopped this curious form of entertainment. She's a major doofus.

Sometimes, I smile from the surplus of sitcom characters and general weirdos at work. Coupled with the snotrags and the prima donnas who make up our clientele, you'd have to say that each day's interesting, if nothing else. One of the truly huge weirdos at my job just got let go the other day...the kind of guys the big wigs in Central Casting drool over. I'm sorry to see him go, he was hilarious...apparently one of our sales managers had this brilliant idea- make someone who appeared to be much more suited to be a mortician a car salesman. Novel idea. Actually, this guy kind of reminded me of Exidor, Mork's friend on 'Mork and Mindy', the guy who used to talk to his imaginary friends.

I got a rise a few nights ago, sitting at the computer at my sister-in-law's with my nephew. He's 15, and he's into every kind of action/sci-fi/special effects movie you can possibly imagine. We were in apple.com, looking at trailers for upcoming movies. You see, he's SEVERELY hearing impaired. He only hears booming noises. He figures the more booming noises he hears, the better the movie's gonna be. I don't know sign, so we mainly communicate through PMs and such. He's a great kid, and I love him, and one day I'm gonna learn sign so I can talk to him every day. I'm looking forward to when Spielberg's "War Of The Worlds" comes out next summer, we're both gonna take him to see it.

Well, there are a few smiles. That's good, isn't it? 🙂

What made me smile?........

....my home team, Derby County (The Rams) beating our arch rivals Nottingham Forest (Red Dogs) Three nil last saturday. Thats the second time we have beaten them in a year. Its the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

Then of course all the fun starts at night, police riot squads screaming through town in police vans, various main streets just a sea a festive blue flashing lights! small groups of forest fans being chased through town by the baying mob.

I just love Christmas dont you?

finding the the gifts that will make my family smile and a newly purchased christmas village(it's not a stuffy one, but is made of candy and all things childlike)...and my goofy little mutt i got over a year ago...the silly doofus wrapped herself in the christmas lights last night(i only curse that i didn't have a camera on me at the time) and she was trying to chew on the the string that the lights are on(kinda like the cat from the chevy chase christmas movie)...and my nephews make me smile(when they aren't screaming and yowling like a pair of banshees)

Watching the look my 5 y/o gets when he has put 2 + 2 together to come up with 4....

He gets a look of total satisfaction whenever the lightbulb in his brain goes off and he figures out something new...

Helps one to smile when seeing things again through the eyes of a child.....😀

The other day I saw a man on the street with a sign "will work for food". He was kind of dirty and it was cold and snowing/raining outside. I swung into McDonalds (it was closest) and bought him a meal. He was SOOO grateful for it with his "God bless you" that through the tears that were brimming in my eyes it made me smile... We all need to be reminded of what we should be thankful for not just during the holidays, but all year round.

something I wanted to share,
kitten

I had to FORCE myself to stop laughing at that one... I didn't want to beat it to death, though. DAMN but it was funny! That's gonna be my new word this week at work.

I smile every day, multiple times a day simply because I live with Lazarus, and we have 4 awesome kids. I have lots to smile about.

But the one thing that stands out in my mind is something that happened yesterday morning. Lazarus had left early in the morning for work, long before I woke up. When he walked out the door, he quickly discovered the stairs were covered with frost and extremely slippery. He knew I would be waking and leaving a bit later in the morning for an appt, and he wanted to be sure that I would not get hurt. So he came back inside, wrote a note telling me that the porch was VERY slippery and that he wanted me to be VERY careful going down them. He added an "I love you!" at the bottom, stuck it to the door, and went on his way.

When I went to leave and I saw the note, my face flushed with a warm happy glow. It was such a small simple gesture, but that one little concern expressed a multitude of love and affection...something I never had or saw in previous relationships, but I get bowled over by daily living with Lazzy. *happy sigh*

Oh, and watching these two tiny toddler twin girls having a tickle fight and giggling their precious little butts off in the doctors office waiting room yesterday afternoon put a huge grin on my face too. Sooooooooooo freaking cute!!

Mimi 🙂

P.S. Kitten, God bless you. You are truly a gift to mankind.

I have to smile at this... I used to have to wait until my Tickle LadyFriend was good and ready to let me tickle her... maybe a couple of hours or so. Now, when I visit her, the first words out of her mouth are, "Would you please tickle my feet?" I've made a believer out of her, my friends!

Last year, I was driving home from a holiday party at work, and I stopped to go to the bathroom at a gas station along the highway. When I got out of my truck, I saw a wallet next to me, so I picked it up and put it in my truck. The next day, I went to take a look at it and found about $1,500 in cash inside the wallet. I looked through to see if I could find some ID and I found out the owner was from Hawaii. He was vacationing on the East Coast visiting his brother in NH. To make a long story short, I tried to get his number with the address on his drivers licence but his number was unlisted. Judy then called the credit card company and she reported his credit card missing. We gave the credit card company our contact information so he can call us and we can make arrangements to have the wallet delivered to where he was staying. Needless to say, he was eternally grateful.

Anyway, what warms my heart even more than making his vacation (that was all the money they had in the world) was that the effort they have made in keeping in touch with us. They sent us a card which shows the true definition of Aloha, which is a very special term. We have been emailing with them and just today, we got a really nice box of chocolates with all these different variations. They keep bugging us to tell them when we are going to take a trip to Hawaii so we can get together. They offered their place as accomodations. 😀

I guess the gist of the post is to show the appreciation for the sheer gratitude expressed by someone for simply doing the right thing. 🙂

I smile everyday when I see my 2 year old daughter do these different things and begin to say different words. The way she says "please" and "thank you" are so cute

Smiles

Okay. Im probably gonna get tickled mercilessly for this one. Oh gee darn!! As alot of you know, my Daddy (TMF member)is a musician. Well, let me rephrase that he's our "local guitar hero"...anyway, we've been together for close to four years now. Im a dancer and that is my passion. Daddy doesnt dance cuz he THINKS he doesnt do it well therefore, we had never danced together. A couple weekends ago we had gone to a club to watch our friends' band play. The last song of the night my Daddy stood up and put his hand out. I thought he was ready to go home so I got up. He led me to the dance floor and danced the whole song with me. I was in such shock, as was the band, that all I could do was look into his eyes and smile. My heart was throbbing so hard and I was soooo happy I wanted to cry cuz I knew he did it just for me.

Seeing the Humour Forum get attacked with a chainsaw was pretty amusing. 😀

I was driving home and Paul & Linda's "Lovely Christmastime" was playing on the radio...I saw these two little kids, a boy and a girl together~they were checking out something on the lawn, both wearing Santa hats, they looked so cute, like a tiny little couple...😀

XOXO

Smiley update......

....further to my festive smiley moment (as described above) The Red Dogs manager (Joe Kinear) was sacked today. That gave me a great big evil smile the whole day long.
