While I realize this thread will be pure speculation, I wanted to post asking the question to forum baseball fans, about what moves they think will be made by major league teams before the July 31 non waiver trade deadline. For this thread, please describe what move you think a specific team will make. We can use names of players, or just, what position or other players we think will be acquired by certain teams.
I'll start off. For the first move: I believe that the Braves are likely to acquire pitching. With their starting rotation beyond John Smoltz, Tim Hudson, and Chuck James, a question mark, I think they will acquire another starting pitcher. I've heard rumors of Kansas City's Octavo Dotel, who can be used as either a starter or reliever, and also Mark Burhele (Hope I spelled his name right) from the White Sox.
Additonally, although I realize that Pedro Martinez will likely be returning to the Mets within about a month's time, and, in spite of the fact that they are still in first place in the NL East, I think that the Mets will try to get a starting pitcher, if they can.

I want to see Andy McPhail make significant changes to my beloved Orioles. It'll be tough, though. Guys with the most value... Bedard, Roberts, Markakis... all players we need to build around. Tejada is still rehabbing the wrist injury, and wasn't hitting for much power before he went on the DL. Aubrey Huff continues his long decline in the power department. I hear, surprisngly, that teams are interested in Steve Trachsel. Kevin Millar has been clutch this season, and could go to a contender, but damn I'll miss his personality. Ramon Hernandez, despite 2 trips to the DL this season, could have a lot of value to a contender in need of a catcher. I just want to see this team reverse 10 years of futility.

Given the injuries to two starting pitchers (Schmidt, Wolfe), the Dodgers definitely need to acquire a high quality starting pitcher. I can't predict if they will succeed.

That's the criticism of him, I know. People fail to remember that he built some good Minnesota teams that won a couple of World Series, though. Of course, with the Orioles, I'm taking a wait and see approach. When you've lost for 10 years like my O's, it's hard to believe anything will turn around.
