HA!! actually espn named the steelers the new americas team this year. they have the most fans, the most rings, the longest wait list for tickets and season tickets, the most female fans, the most merchandise sold, and have never not sold out a game since moving to heinz feild.. So sorry cowboys but enjoy that number 2 spot

If you think you see Steelers bumper stickers and caps everywhere, you're right. According to the results of a recent Harris poll, the most popular NFL team is the Steelers (16 percent of fans called the Steelers their favorite team), with the Cowboys (15 percent) following slightly behind. While the Cowboys are still No. 2, they've fallen like an anvil since the poll began in 1999, when the Cowboys were the favorite of 25 percent of fans.

Thanks to Peyton Manning, the Colts have risen from being one of the least popular teams in the NFL in 1999 (1 percent) to third place (13 percent).

By the way, if you're a Jaguars, Saints or Ravens fan, congratulations, you're not a bandwagon jumper, as you're one of a rare breed, especially Jacksonville fans--the club finished dead last with 1 percent of respondents. I don't know what's more amazing, that the Jaguars have not drawn more than three percent since the poll began, or the fact that the Cardinals, the NFL's perennial foot stool, finished ahead of three other teams.

that was 2006

Cowboys have been the only team in top four since the poll has been taken since 1998. Cowboys were chosen most popular SPORTS team in america in 2009!!!!!!

we can argue all day over who is more popular, sportsnation says the steelers. But regardless who has the most rings? and who hasnt won a playoff game in 15 years

you knew they Cowboys were number 1 so don`t pretend otherwise.:flatstare:

haha now the way the skins throw money around and the fact that they always talk about the skins amount of money and how many people they would get if there was no cap i thought they would be number 1 in revenue

Of all time? Most famous is straightforward, most beloved is difficult. In terms of fame its easy to pick out the teams that defined their era-
Browns of the 50's
Packers of the 60's
Steelers of the 70's (also the 1972 Dolphins)
49ers of the 80's
Cowboys of the 90's
Pats of the 2000's

But its a double-edged sword, really. Once a team gets too good or even too wealthy they start to get haters. Thats when your most "beloved" factor comes into play. To be honest, I'm a Cowboy hater. I'll be honest- a lot of that stems from my team (the Bills) losing 2 superbowls to them. But I also hate them for the same reasons I hate the Yankees- they have too much damn money and they're cocky as hell. America likes underdogs as much as they love the superstar. A good argument could be made for non-dynasty teams like the Bills of the early 90's, the broncos of the late 90's, and the Raiders of the 70's.

I am praying that my Jaguars revenues go up this year as they are finally imposing blackouts until the stadium is sold out. Keep praying that the community will show more support so they aren't forced to relocate.
As far as the topic goes... my first instinct was the Redskins but I'm probably way off.

Pitt is a small market and most of their fans in other parts of the country are transplanted from Pennsylvania.

The Cowboys are unique as to having a broad fanbase all over the country that isn`t from Texas. Steelers just can`t compete in that aspect.
