What ticklish dreams really mean!

I found this on a German website which deals with dream interpretation (and soothsaying!):

What a bullshit! Dreaming about tickling means that you’re a ticklephile! 😀

I have to agree. I don't put much faith in that dream interprettion stuff. I'm starting to believe that psychology is a racket and that psychologists and psychatrists are quacks.

If you dream about tickling, it probably means that you're thinking about it. I'm surprised that I don't dream about tickling every night. Instead, I dream about dumb stuff, like going to school in my underwear.

This sounds more like someone who just doesn't like tickling and it got into thier thinking on dreams and tickling...

But seriously: I'm not at all sure that this special website has got a sound psychological background. I mean, crystal-ball gazing, palm reading and tarot card interpretations are on the same site. 🙄

That's not psychology how I see it (or how a therapist sees it). You shouldn't blame astronomers for astrology... 😎

I believe in dream interpretation insofar as they can reveal things about one's personality and subconscious thoughts, but not predicting the future. That's hokum - hokum I say!

Of course, I DO believe that my dream last night about tickling Britney Spears till she agreed to become my love slave is a clear portent of things to come 😀

I think for the most part, dream interpretation is a crock. For some people that aren't into tickling, some of those associations that Hal listed might be true (although, probably not). But obviously, for us on the TMF, tickling in dreams holds a whole lot more of a positive connotation. In my case, I equate my tickling dreams with the normal vanilla sex dreams that most other people have. I wake up feeling like I just had a tickle session (not the exhaustion part, but the excitement part...lol), and I'm kind of tingly all over. If my husband happens to pick that morning to get something going, I'm pretty much a sure thing. 🙂

Dreams like that leave a huge smile on my face for the rest of the morning. I only wish we could induce tickling dreams....I think if I could, I would become more of a morning person! 😀

You're right Hal. As a psych. major myself, I can tell you that none of this is psychologically sound. BBB's interpretation was correct. IMHO, anyway. Of course, being a ticklephile myself, I am somewhat biased😀

Very Freudian. Freud had some very good contributions to psychology. However, as my professor was always quick to remind his students, Freud also did enough cocaine to kill a small family of horses, and you can usually tell by looking at Freud's notes which days were good days and which days were dope days.

Dreams' being the subconscious (or unconscious, as Freud put it) extensions of ourselves is generally acknowledged as having been conceived during a dope day. 😉

However, from the way you're talking about the matter, I'm assuming that you have a "deeper" reason for your beliefs, so Freud's medicinal herbs likely don't mean much in its light. 😀 This post, then, is not so much for you (TTD) as for others who are interested in the same topic.

I have been quite philosphical for a very long time. A side of me that only comes out in the right situations. Conversations of deep thought and on almost any subject. Some would call me very opinionated and I could not disagree.
My Gemini personality (being the twins) having two seperate personalities, each of the twins, being a Gemini, also having two personalities and so on and so on.😀 😉 😱

Deep philosphical conversations and or debates or heated discussions falls in the top 5 of my favorite "things to do" passtimes.

No one can make a blanket statement about what a particular dream image means, because each dream is unique to the dreamer.

Dreams are extremely valuable as indicators of our inner life, but it's up to each of us alone to hear what our dreams are saying.

And on the other end of the spectrum...

Dreams are extremely valuable, as they are indicators that our minds are sorting all of the information we've acquired since last we dreamt (usually the previous night). This could be why dreams often make little sense -- the brain is organising ~15 hours of sensory information in (usually) a lot shorter length of time.

At least, that's the view I support. 😉
