The Big Band era. I think I would've had a shot to sing with the Glen Miller Orcastra. If not, I'm sure one of the smaller big bands would allow me to croon with them.

Early Medieval Period
Because I'm familiar with the technology of the period, AND the steps needed to get from that level to the level of, say, the 1870s in a single generation.
I would dwell among the pagans of northern and eastern Europe and weld them into a single Empire, stretching from Ireland in the west to the Ural Mountains in the east, from Norway in the north to the Caucasus Mountains in the south.
The purpose of this empire would be to preserve freedom of religion for the pagan faiths, and prevent the mass conversions under threat of death that were imposed on the pagan peoples by both Islam and Christianity. With a little luck, it should even be possible to retake England for the old, true faiths.
I would certainly prevent "Saint" Olaf from blinding Svein Forkbeard, cutting his hands off, and throwing him into a pit of hungry wolves because he refused to give up his ancestral religion of Asatru and become a Christian. Some saint. I can only imagine how utterly appalled Jesus would have been to witness such acts being committed in his name!
