What to do about Thread-Necromancy?

There's a zombie-thread over in the tickling art section. The poor thing was bumped after several months of peaceful rest. And it doesn't have any art. It needs to be put to rest in the art-request section. Is this a good reason to use the "report" button, or that only for serious stuff, kinda like the Bat-Signal?

You could use the report button if you feel that the thread is problematic, such as one with dead links or that is in the wrong section. In the case you mentioned, I closed the thread but left it posted because some of the comments were hilarious :super_hap

yes i just read it...thanks for not moving it Mistress as i found a few very interesting posts there...do you think they talk the way they type? i can picture that one poster talking a mile a minute, without breathing..and no one understanding a word they said...hehe

o and Bit...that art drawing..amazing..it would make a cool banner..

Thanks MistressValerie.

And Isabeau, sorry, but that Necro pic isn't mine. It's just one I found and felt was apropos.

Ya know... I've never understood the antipathy towards thread necromancy. Yes, yes I understand it is annoying when somebody doesn't understand why a link posted back in 2001 no longer works. Then of course there are the situations were someone is trying to request feedback from someone who hasn't logged on since 2005. These selections are bad and the stupidity can be contagious when others are sucked into it. In the case of the thread which was recently closed the only bad thing about it was some people had some egg on their face. I understand that the mods and admins have to maintain order, but I don't know... it must just be my libertarian roots showing. There are some ancient threads out there that ought to be bumped in my opinion. I'd hate to see a total prohibition against it.

When i first joined the TMF, i focused mostly entirely on the story section..and i would bump up very old stories..i find nothing wrong in that, as there are many new members who hadn't had a chance to read such fine tales..so bumping up old threads can be useful..such as with stories that have been written some time back, but that many or so hadn't had a chance to read them...damn am i making sense?

Leave necromancers be... they made the living out bringing dead back to the life 🙂

yay! zombies! MPPPPMMMMMHHHHHH! Brains!

now where did i put my .45?

You assemble the Council of the White. They will assault the Necromancer in his lair. Failing that, you call Ash to attack with his chainsaw and shotgun.

That would indeed be a mistake. Truth told, there's years of stuff here I've never gotten around to getting a decent look at. There's whole subsections I've barely touched. If someone feels a certain whatever(story, clip, illustration, etc,) deserves another look, it's usually fine by me. Necromancy can get rather tragic in a subforum like the 'Personals'-section -- you know, like when a new member dredges up some thread from 2003 or something.

Hold on. I suppose I missed the point being to make rules regarding threadomancy. Honestly... a stupid idea.

It's waaaaay more fun to just let it happen, because then we can laugh at the n00bs for sucking at the Internet.

We don't mind necromancy which adds something relevant to the original thread or which happens in lightly trafficked sections such as the story forums, but some of the responses to 2002 personals ads or years-dead Rapidshare links are just embarrassing 😀

that thread was awesome! It should have stayed alive

Don't worry, I'm sure it is still alive, really. It's doing science and it's still alive. And when we're dying it'll be still alive. And when we're dead it'll be still alive. Still alive.

...

Still alive. 😛

You can't post in it.

I totally want to come back and bump this thread in a couple years. It's going to be all ironic and awesome.

Now if I can just remember...

You must do this!

I mean, yes, I normally agree that bumping old threads is silly, but most of the time it's harmless. I would actually be pretty flattered if someone bumped an old personals-section thread of mine.

Either this is supreme trolling, or supreme irony. Either way, shame on you.

Slightly less supreme since he already said he was going to do it. Still, I'm impressed he actually remembered!

Well played, amniac. Well played indeed.

Hunh. I wonder how QueenBeeBeeMarie is doing? Been awhile since she was around.

Aaah. Didn't read that part. Nonetheless, shame on you.
