What's the best way to say no?

Sometimes I'm just not in the mood , and I need to say no but I don't want the moment to get too heavy. What's the nicest, smoothest, classiest way that people have begged off being tickled by or tickling you?

It can be especially confusing with tickling because often no means yes please now! around here

"Not at the moment" is weak enough not to be construed as a playful answer but gets the entire message across.

I've never had to do this ,I'm not sure if that's good or bad . You're right a No does normally mean yes . Maybe a stern "NOT NOW !" might be the way to go followed by a calm explanation . 🙂

My health issues often interfere with being able to play comfortably. (When I'm in pain, it just kills everything else and makes it no fun at all.) I simply state that I can't play at the moment. Any play partners worth playing with should be able to understand and honor that. It's rarely been an issue for me. People (myself included) can be disappointed at times. But, I always figure we'll be even more disappointed if we don't honor things and I end up hurting them or myself.

I would also say "not for the moment" is the best way.

Speaking on behalf of rejected guys everywhere, the best way to deal with this is to just submit to my tickling! (just kidding)


Really, like Ann says, just explain you don't feel like it at that moment. You might add something about the fact that you do like tickling, and even that you do like the tickler, but now's a bad time. (Takes some of the sting out of rejection if you specify it's the time, not the person you object to.)
