Awww, Sarah actually ASKING for blech? That is a first, you big softie.
So for mine, in person with someone? At the airport waiting for Sanna's plane, I bought her a Reese's Peanut Butter cup. She had only tasted peanut butter that morning for the first time at the hotel, and I was like, you have to taste this. Needless to say, her eyes got big and she cracked a smile big enough to break the world. lol
Mine was last night when I gave my daughter, her mother, and my mother the necklaces and ear rings I bought from Cassi in Philly for Mother's Day. They were thrilled!
I go people watching at the local grocery store.......a lot!
I love to watch the big, bad, tatooed types and give them a smile. It's amazing-they smile back and always acknowledge me! They have big sweet hearts behind those tatoos and the swagger, trust me!
Do the little things count? I was going to watch hockey tonight (hockey is my religion and I literally get withdrawal-symptoms during the summer when no games are played) but I saccrificed that to spend time with a friend who otherwise would have had to spend the Friday night on her own. We just sat indoors and talked, and then went for a walk, but she was happy simply to have some company. 😀
Yesterday as a matter of fact, every single flight we had was going out nearly soldout and I had a passenger who was late for his plane and I was able to get him on our next available flight to Baltimore so he could make it to his companies meeting
I helped a friend furniture shop today, dragged him to a store he didn't want to go in, where he fell in love with the perfect office setup, saving thousands of dollars in the process. He is so happy and couldn't stop smiling!
I sold many people fabulous shoes today and chatted to them about their lives. Yes it was work, but I like it because I get to talk to people, making money doing it is just a plus.
I taught my older sister how to make the Greek restaurant across the street from where she works make deliveries to her job, even if it's before their ridiculously scheduled time for deliveries (they only start delivering food on weekends after 3:00, and despite the fact that my sister is all of 20 paces away, they still won't bend):
1.) Order your food as "take-out", and get the estimated time that it'll be ready in.
2.) Call back and ask if it's ready. When they say yes, tell them to come to the window.
3.) Tell them to look across the street into the shop.
4.) Wave at them, money held hostage in your hand.
5.) Tell them they'll get paid when you get your food.
Probably my enactment of the hypothetical was more what made her laugh than anything else: "I CAN FUCKING SEE YOU!!!" and "I'M HOLDING YOUR PRESIDENTS HOSTAGE RIGHT HERE!!! PROOF OF LIFE, BITCHES!!" were part of it.
I try to make people smile as much as I can. At work just doing what the customer asked and going above and beyond really makes them smile. And I always tell every customer I see leaving "Have a great day!", which usually gets a smile and "Thanks, you too!"
