what's your opinion on suck ups?

I'm sure you know what i'm talking about. you've seen the type. people online and in real life that jump over a ton of hoops and are all kissy kissy and will bend over backwards to kiss other peoples butts alot just so thoses people will like them or that they'll be able to flirt with that person etc...

Personally i can't stand thoses kind of people like that (it's not that i hate them or anything) it's just that i can't stand them. i'm not about to do any of that stuff! you either like me for who i am or your not gonna be getting to know more about me anytime soon you can forget it. it's better to be real and up front and honest with people insted of being fake and hideing behind lies and shadyness.

Not really no. But i don't really care that much what people think about me. I'm not here in this world to be mr. popular and be the main time stud. I mean some things get to me everynow and then. But life is to short to be worrying about what this person said or what this person called you.... it just is.

I find sucking up to be a very undesirable trait. I used to see it A LOT in my schoolyears. I was one not to ask for much help in work at school from teachers, because I thought I'd cope by myself, but seeing a certain clique getting friendly with the teachers, they got told off FAR LESS than I did when either of us didn't do certain work, and they seemed to get better grades. Though I got along with some of these people, others were just vile towards myself. Hence why I hesitate to hang around those with a kiss-ass reputation.

I'm a pretty nice guy to most people, but I think some cynical people these days associate politeness and friendliness with obsequiousness. Dunno why. I just find it easier in the long-term to be nice to people and connect with the positive sides of their personality, because when you annoy others, they have a tendancy to needle you a lot, which is something I just can't be bothered with nor have my precious time for. In my opinion, trying to be controversial to be yourself isn't necessarily controversial: It makes you an inconsequential nuisance.

But in fairness, sucking up is something I wouldn't touch with an elongated barge pole.

But i'll just say this that it's most of the guys on this website (or that i notice anyways) a good i'd say 30%. and a few girls as well on this website. But again i'm not naming any screen names so i guess you won't found out who

This thread proble doesn't help in the long run. But it was just a random post that i thought up just to get people opinions and thoughts on people that are suck up's. and like Oddjob said we're all suck ups to a certain degree in life it's just that some people don't know how or don't want to turn there suck up button off.

(ie: Flirting to get what you want,being overally to nice and friendly to someone just because you want something from them,being a suck up just so that person will like you (when they wouldn't proble have other wise) etc...)

If you are not going to name names then what is the point you are making. I think you are probably right that there are suck-ups out here. But you ignore them and move on. I understand you get pissed but as I tell people I want to have fun. Not so I compromise my morals mind you. I am open, sincere, and honest. I have made waves with my honesty out here already.But unless you point out who they are these people will continue to get under your skin. My opinion only.

In my opinion,suck ups refer to person or people that are putting on a "act" rather than being themselves..Being a member that has been here for quite a long time but not nearly as long as some other members,and having met quite a number of members in person,attending gatherings I will say that I haven;t met one person yet that was putting on a act,or being overly too nice on TMF or in person .
When I was a new member myself,there were some people that seemed to be doing alot of hugging,being affectionate so at first I observed,participating in threads and it wasn;t until I got to know these people that I came to understand they knew each other online as well as offline,and the posts were those persons's way of expressing a sincere sentiment of caring,ect..
