when people use the word "safeword"

What I mean is, someone who you don't think is into tickling or dom-sub stuff, but they still know that word. Is that word common knowledge or does knowing that word mean they must be into "something"?

It could just be that the person is using plain old common sense. I mean it is called safeword, so I am sure that might make them automatically equate it with safety. They might not know the exact definition, but I am sure they could make a good estimated guess. This is just my two cents. I think I told my vaniila sister once and she defined it without knowing it.

I think it appears in mainstream media enough to be considered commonplace. I'd be more surprised if one of my vanilla friends didn't know what it meant.
