This post looks like it was started by a senile old man.
I was looking at some of the old posts in the mainstream sections (I was feeling nostalgic, remeniscing about old times, etc. LOL!!)...and noticed that some names that used to be prominent arent anymore. Nontkl will be back on soon (we are still makin' moves, keep your eyes peeled), and I know where WallStreet is, but where are
Scooby
MachineHead
Latin Boy
TurtleBoy
amk714
Juggler
If you go back to the very beginning and start scanning through the pages, you will see these guys' names everywhere. Old friends indeed; I have known Scoob since before this board was thought of and I met the others at the Pad, AMT, or here. The Internet is funny. One day you wake up and you dont recognize alot of the names, and you look like an old head because you are asking about people that havent posted in a couple of years (or several months). Man, alot has changed; the names, the atmosphere....we used to be just happy to have somewhere to collaborate and share clips (Juggler may have offered the first 'cd of scenes' from mainstream tv LOL!!). I dont even think IronicTickler is online anymore. Max had a mainstream list up, and OB had one on the early TickleTown website, but I believe Ironic Tickler may have had the first cataloged list of celebrities like his....toyou had one of his own that followed. I still remember how cool it was going to toyou's site and seeing my vidcaps of Bill Cosby tickling Phylicia Rashad's feet (that is how I got introduced to toyou, another pioneer). I had never been "jacked" before; it used to piss alot of the foot vidcappers off, but I found it a huge compliment. ToYou put me on in the tickling community, and didnt even know it.
Now its 2005...we got a cataloged list of shit (and the updates are coming, I promise) at the top of the pages, two sites where you can find video clips posted within minutes by myself or someone else (wanto, if you read this, I really wish you had been around in '96)....back then there was about 20 of us, but we held mainstream down strong. If we had the resources in '97 or '98 like we have now, there is no telling what the landscape would have looked like. If we seen or heard anything, we were e-mailing each other and posting like crazy, praying to God someone had a VCR running (3 guesses as to who one of them who had one running was 😉 ). We were so much more thankful, for anything. Fuck a clip, our word to each other was good enough. Where would we store clips....one of the main VCR hounds (me) was so far behind technologically that I was capping with a webtv, and mailing tapes to Non. I honestly cant remember which one of us started posting clips first; I know my stuff wasnt being posted in a video format until I was mailing stuff to OB at Tickletown. It was probably Juggler, sharing stuff with us at AMT, and I couldnt download it on WebTv. There were members of the tickling community that chastised us; told us we were stupid for "fantasizing about people we would never meet. Everytime I read one of those chat room confessions my heart stops. Why do you tape all that stuff, get a real girl and tickle her?" But the 20 of us, we didnt care. We understood why we did it (and for the record, almost all of us were married or had steady girlfriends, we were probably doing more "tickling" than the people hassling us); it wasnt about the physical or self gratification at all. And if you were to ask everyone of us, from Bandit to Non to 3D to ToYou, I guarantee you they would agree: it was about the brotherhood. We geeked harder about sharing the find than we did about the find itself. That is where the love was. It was about a group of guys and ladies who shared some stupid hobby, and we discovered each other in the process. I formed friendships doing this that have lasted a lot longer than some marriages; I dont call Non my tag team partner because it looks cool in the posts. We have been friends now for 7 years, and it started with VCRs and chat confessions. Same with Kmars (5 years), and Bandit(forever it seems), and Doc Soul, and Max, etc. And through this I have scored newer friends, like Iggy, and rajee, and wanto, who I think would have fit in quite nicely with that haggard old bunch of AMT dwellers, who kept in contact with me through e-mail or at the Pad.
Somewhere along the way, and I dont know how it happened, the clip became the main draw. It isnt about the score anymore; or sharing your finds with your brothers. If you look in the mainstream sections, the information (confirmations) posts get no replies. The alerts are a waste; I dont know that anyone tapes tv shows anymore to be honest with you. 98 percent of the posts in Mainstream Sightings are replies "Do you have a clip", "Can you get a clip?, and "Thanks....where's the clip". I dont know, maybe it has to do with the set up. I mean, we had to work alot harder when we all got together than you do know. Now, its all at the top of the Ticklish Celebrities forum, although people rarely look in there for anything anymore. Im not saying the atmosphere is worse; that isnt for me to judge. Im saying it is different, and that is for me to apparently get used to, not the other 8,000 members who go through there. Sometimes, I just wonder, with the computer I have now, where I am blessed to be able to make clips, and the 2 VCRs, and the digital cable, and the Comcast hi-speed hook up....if I could give all that to those 20 individuals with the enthusiasm and the love for it we had. We would have had the best mainstream site ever. Period.
At any rate, if anyone can provide me with any info on those guys I listed, I would appreciate it. And while you are looking for them, find the year 1997 again, tell it Keith is looking for it.
