Whipping?

A recent thread got me thinking about whipping in a lot of BDSM and tickling videos, and I've been meaning to ask this for a while seeing as how I don't really use whips that often. Here was the original question:

I'm not into feet, but I'm assuming the principle is the same if you're talking about bondage whips? Like the kind you see in some videos?

If that's the case, exactly how do those work? I'm not talking about the big ones that look like they'd leave a permanent mark, I mean the small-looking ones that look like Koosh balls that people use lightly but they apparently hurt a little. Anyone want to explain how those cause pain when used lightly?

First of all... I had thought I'd seen everything. But whips that look like Koosh balls? I can't IMAGINE the total terror I would feel, tied naked to a St. Andrew's cross, (sex at our place can be complicated) seeing my BIG SCARY DOM in LEATHER and BIG BOOTS approaching with... OMIGOD.... A KOOSH! NOOO! NOT THE EVIL KOOSH!

To answer your question fairly, though, they DO make tiny floggers out of the same material as Koosh balls, little rubber strands. I imagine that's what you are referring to. Those CAN cause pain, because each tiny strand is rather stingy- whenever you decrease the surface area of the instrument of impact, you increase the "sting" factor.

I've been on both the receiving and giving end of a large variety of whips and floggers, because I'm a Gender-Specific-Switch. That means I sub to Libertine, and dominate some women. So I do know what I'm talking about!
