Who Believes...

So, who (besides me) believes that by the year 2014, with the current and future turn of events that we have and will witness, that we will have another revolution in the "former" United States? Not to be unpatriotic, but I do believe it will happen. We the people, will fight the government who have, most graciously, taken away our core values and instead replaced them with control. Rule in the States, is now, not in the best intrest of the people. Unfortunantly, the snowball efect has begun, and unless we act now...the avalanche will come. You opinions....

I agree with the BROTHE here. Granted, America's pretty screwed in lots of different ways, but not in a way to even come close to a full-blown revolution from the people, even looking ahead six years from now. Not unless something completely unexpected happens to influence that. Though there is lots of bad talk about America, the fact is that the vast majority of its people find more good than bad - or at least, more value in nationalism than that in potential rebellion. Sure, there may be miniture revolts...but that, I think, will only strengthen the peoples' sense of loyalty to the government even more. Not unless the government takes a complete turn for the worse, or if we allow an absolute tyrant take the reigns, do I think the US will see another revolution for quite a while.

No. I don't see it as remotely possible. People will bitch and moan about whatever bothers them. They'll be content with that then go on with their lives. There are many safety valves in the country which disperse discontent. People are allowed to organize and share their views and grievances within the democracy. People are allowed pursue their goals and desires within their ability to do so without limitation (obviously within the confines of the law). We have vast amounts entertainment, social organizations, free religious expression, etc.

Now if you want to say political upheaval within the system. That is always possible.

Not a chance at all, especially if democrats win this upcoming election. Now I am far from an Obama supporter (honestly, I just don't like him), but because of the view of the republican party over the last 6 years decreasing to such a large degree that a democratic win will placate the masses.

Also, most citizens don't have the balls or knowledge to pick up a gun and revolt, it would have to get much worse in the country to drive society to something like that.

Yeah, isn't that when there's supposed to be some monumental shift in the atmosphere, or a major electromagnetic change, or some other gobbledygook, as per the Mayan calender?


But, I understand Wraven's concerns. I mean, our President just chided the Chinese prior to the beginning of the Olympics about human rights...when we have a vast, ever building prison-system with one of the largest incarcerated populations in the world. Just seems duplicitous of us to be pointing fingers, methinks.

Revolt? How? Every year more and more people give in to the gun control mob to the point that citizens will soon not be able to protect themselves from the Big Brother style gov't dependence that the Dem's have been pushing us towards (and sadly, some Republicans have bought in to). Just like in Nazi Germany, you take away the peoples weapons to defend themselves with, and the totalitarians have an easier time.

Too many people WANT the gov't to be their provider (remember the pony-tailed guy at the Bush 41-Clinton-Perot debate who cried that he wanted them to stop arguing and look up us as their children and take care us?) and 'sugar daddy.' We've created multiple generations of welfare dependent fractured families just as the Democrats in the 1940-60's wanted. My mother in law read historical documents and letters in college where a senator came out and admitted it was part of the plan. Sad to day, the weak minded have fell for it.

Revolt? Why for? The people think they are getting what they want? If not, the 'drive-by' media will keep convincing them it's what they want. Sad to say, God will give us what we deserve this year...

In my opinion, there's oppression from both sides of the aisle. Too long has this country been mired by a worthless 2-party system that has gotten so strong that if there ever is a civil war, it won't be based on geography, economics, or even actual opinions. It'll just be "liberal vs. conservative".

I'll stay home, thanks, and wait for the whole affair to blow over. Then when everybody is dead? I'll drive their cars, raid their fridges, drink their beer and watch reruns of Night Court on their TVs.
