...Is a musician? Or a singer? Or an actor/actress?

I've played the piano since I was 4, which has turned into keyboards/synths, all categories, but mostly jazz and contemporary, thought provoking piano music. 🙂 I'm trying to put an album together, and have a few tracks already.

Anyone else children of the arts, musical or otherwise?

-Drew

I've played piano since age 5, the trumpet since age 8, the guitar since age 13. I've been performing in live bands since 14, and picked up the bass a couple years later and eventually would even start drumming a few songs each night. I picked the harmonica up along the way somewhere, too. Vocally, I have a range of three octaves. It's weird, I could be the bass in a quartet or the tenor. To be fair, though, it's the bottom half of a tenor's range.

I record all my guitar, bass, and keyboard tracks at home and take them in digital format to mutual friend who has a nice home studio and then I'll do the vocals and drum tracks at his place.

My mom learned all the theory and is excellent on the keys/organs. Her mother couldn't read a note, but played very well by ear. I got both. I learned the theory in school and from mom, but I can listen to anything and tell you what key it's in, what chord that was, scale to use, etc. I prefer playing that way, anyway. It trips out my wife that I'll hear something new on the radio on the way home from somewhere and then I come in and pick up the guitar and just start playing it.

saxophone during middle school (alto)
piano since, 1999
music theory 1999
first composition made circa 1996-7ish (it was a shitty song)

drawing since middle school

writing since freshman year of highschool

I can play the keyboard and guitar(not at the same time lol) and can sing as well.

That's not showing you up at all. Sounds like you're a very talented guy yourself. I'm sure this thread will shed light on some others we're unaware of, too.

I like to sing, actually. I sing anything, from country to 80's rock back to pop and over to Kenny Loggins, but my fave is country 😱. And I play a bit of piano, too😀

I played violin from like 3rd grade through high school. But I haven't touched it since. Right now I'm learning bass guitar.

I have a violin, but I haven't played in years. I'm also a pretty good singer, actor, and artist. Although, I've done none of these professionally yet.

"I can burp the ABC!"

😛 Nah. Well, I did get in the Band in HS....that was fun...😉

Nothing as far as acting and singing goes, really. I did write a spoof-rap song once about how dumb teenagers are (not all teenagers, of course - that'd be prejudiced), but I didn't so much sing as speak the words... Like rap.

I played violin briefly from about 6 to 9 years old, then moved onto piano, which I still play now... then I started playing guitar when I was 14, and also still play that. I did a course on how to use creation software (cubase, reason etc) and now mainly write stuff using Reason. I prefer writing Orchestral stuff, but have a fair range. I also write fiction a fair bit (hence I'm doing literature at Uni). I guess I can sing a bit, but wouldn't call myself 'the bomb' if you like. 😛

Anywhere where we can hear some of your stuff Paradoxical? I would like to check it out.

I've not got it posted anywhere as of yet, not quite ready for that. However, I'm more than happy to transfer things via messenger... I'd very much appreciate anyone's opinion!

Baritone/Bass vocalist. Was in muscials in High School and college. Our High School swing choir did a local commercial. I participate in church dramas when given the chance.

Does that qualify?

I've been singing in choirs since 3rd grade...I'm usually an alto 2 or a tenor (depending on the needs of the choir) but I've been placed in a soprano 1 position, and handled myself just fine...I love to sing...I need it to feel healthy...

I miss being in a choir or having some structured/organized singing action in my life...I'm thinking of joining a local choir just to keep the pipes warm...😉

I picked up the guitar a few years ago...I'm nothing special with it, but I love to learn and love to play...and love to sing along!!! 😀

We should have a TT jam session...hott...

A renaissance man, huh? You got, Vlad.

LOL 😀

I think some people think I'm lying when I say I can do all that or do it well. Unfortunately, I have no formal training from a school, college, etc, in any of those things, so I can't prove it or cite it like most of you guys probably could. 🙁

I'm a professional actor, as in, acting is my main source of income 🙂 I did my degree in drama, and have been working as a professional for about a year now. Nothing big, but I honestly don't mind; as long as it pays the bills.

You're in more of a position to say so than me, but I get a feeling I wouldn't mind the same thing, at least not for the short term of my career.

I would be more interested in being a voice actor for animated cartoons and anime characters than a movie, stage, or sitcom actor.

Although, people tell me I'm handsome and have charisma and would look good in the limelight, so sitcoms seem ideal to me, mainly because you get to really know the people you will work with, and you bond with them (hopefully).

Unlike movies, which are often one-time encounters with the same actors, you live the life of the character you play in the sitcom. You ARE that character and you get the time to grow with them, and the others ARE your relatives, or whomever. You get to be with these people, hopefully, for the course of a few years, and get to be with the set, and it seems much more homely than the alternatives.

I'm not sure thats an experience you can feel exactly the same way somewhere else.

Although, you've got to deal with ratings and whether or not the people like you enough to keep you around for anything more than a season...or, more importantly, anything more than the pilot episode. 😛

I do disco, and sing, but only alone and in front of a mirror, and only when within a deeper relationtship...😛

I feel for your mirror.

I've been playing the guitar for somewhere around six years, and I like to think I can play the bass pretty decent, although I probably don't have much of a "bass" style due to playing the guitar so long, but I'm working on it.
And on the vocal side I've been teaching myself to sing for the last year or so (also a work in progress 😉)
