who is the best 2nd baseman in the National and American leagues respectively?

I hardly follow the National League at all, but I suppose I'd begrudgingly give it to Pedroia in the AL even though I can't stand the Red Sox. His numbers last season were quite good for a 2nd baseman. We'll see if he can repeat that type of performance this season.

was he worthy of being MVP ?

I never thought so and recall being befuddled that he was awarded the thing. His numbers were good, but nowhere near where I'd expect for an MVP.

I found this in my morning paper and found it quite interesting. Kinsler got hurt on Aug. 17th. comparison of numbers to Aug 17th

CAT Kinsler Pedroia

Ave. .319 .322
Runs 102 90
Hits 165 162
TotBases 268 238
Doubles 41 38
Homers 18 12
RBI 71 58
Sb 26 12
xtra b. hits 63 51
multihitgames 48 48

ther are 10 categories and Pedroia only leads in batting ave. and that could change in ONE day. They tied in multi hit games, and Kinsler won the other 8 categories most by quite a large margin

I'm embarrassed to admit I'd forgotten about Kinsler. For some reason Pedroia and Roberts were the only 2 notable second basemen I was thinking of this afternoon. But yeah, Kinsler's bat would strike more fear into me if I were an opposing pitcher.

Those are nice numbers but please tell the audience when the last time Kinsler helped take his team to the playoffs???

Pedroia had a super season when you consider that Mike Lowell was hurt and David Ortiz was hurt and Manny well he Mannied himself out of Boston.

Also Flock it would be nice if you used ACCURATE numbers for Pedroia to make your case.

Here are the actual stats for Pedroia:

At-Bats: 653
Hits: 213 ( not 162 Flock )
Doubles: 54 ( Not 38 Flock )
Homeruns: 17 ( Not 12 Flock )
Runs: 118 ( Not 90 Flock )
RBI: 83 ( NOT 58 Flock )
Stolen Bases: 20 ( Not 12 Flock )
Total Bases: 326 ( NOT 238 Flock )
Batting Average: .326 ( Not .322 Flock ( though close )
Extra Base Hits: 73 ( Not 51 Flock )
Multi-Hit Games: 60 ( Not 48 Flock )

If you are going to argue stats as to who is better or deserving of an MVP then can you PLEASE for the sake of a fair arguement use ACCURATE numbers.

Because my numbers come from the Elias Sports Bureau I can assure accuracy.

Now everyone, if you want to debate it. Funny his number on Kinsler are right on point. I wonder why his Rangers players numbers are on point and he gave us the end of July numbers for Pedrioa???

You bottlenose dolphin...

If you had taken the time to read the question, you would have realized that the comparisons were made till Aug. 17th. In your haste you made yourself look really really silly .HAHAHA

Just for the record folks , we are actually friends who talk sports all the time. He did actually apologize on the mistake to me, he just couldn`t make himself do it here. Go FIGURE, he is a Met`s fan.....

BOOYAH.....:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::bwahaha::bwahaha:

In the NL,it's Chase Utley.... there's not even a close 2nd.

I was going to bring him up originally but I figured it wouldn't be fair since I hardly follow the NL. Wasn't there talk that he might move to 3rd? Maybe I'm behind on the news.
