The movie was really good, expertly crafted and told just like the graphic novel. The visual style and feel of the film was also top notch with the right amount of action and story...Gotta love Rorschach too. 😀
It wasn't cheesy and lame like Sin City, and pumped full of crappy acting, but somehow made up for with the menfolk because of the "action" and Jessica Alba, was it?
The action was great... but for me the story and connected back stories from some characters really were interesting... a indeed complicated movie to create, finely blending the story elements with the large amount of action on screen...
I really enjoyed it. Kept incredibly close to the graphic novel, the downside of which was that the changes they made were easy to spot. Still, brilliant movie, I'd definitely watch it again.
i have to agree. it followed the graphic novel almost perfectly. and aside from a few minor details the changes werent bad. i definitely liked the new costumes for ozymandias and nite owl. and ozymandias' supervillain monologue? "d'you really think i wouldhave explained my master stroke if there was even the smallest chance you could stop me? i set it off 35 minutes ago." oh my freakin god it was perfect.
I never heard of Watchmen before they started promoting this film's trailer late last year, but I still went out and saw it today on IMAX. Well worth the $8 to me anyway... 🙂
Dr. Manhattan seems like the most powerful superhero ever. Not to get into the details or anything...
great movie. followed the novel as best it could. can't wait to see the dvd version that will supposedly incorporate the black freighter into the movie.
My biggest fear concerning this movie is that it will come to be associated with the name "Watchmen" more than the graphic novel, which is indeed deeper/better (as with MST3K, the right kind of people will "get it").
I highly suggest reading the book before seeing the film. As for Dr. Manhattan's big blue junk...I'm hearing that it's the one thing people remember most about the movie. A shame, really, as there's so much more to the character than the juvenile response of "OMFG, a penis!!!" that I've heard IRL several times since the movie was released.
