Who Will Win The National League East, And When Will The Title Be Clinched?

Considering the heated battle between the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies for Major League Baseball's National League East Division, I felt it appropriate that a poll be posted asking our TMF sports fans, and anyone else who wants to chime in, of course, who they think will win the National League East, and when it would be won. I will post a poll attached to this post.

My Vote for this poll is that the Phillies will win the NL East outright on Sunday. I can't say that the Mets might not win a game this weekend against Florida, or that the Phillies will sweep Washington, but, considering the Mets current play, and their failure tonight with their ace, Pedro Martinez on the mound, and the fact that the Mets have blown a seven game National League East lead in less than three weeks, I think that psychologically, the Mets are beaten, and that the Phillies have momentum, which is why I believe that the Phillies will be crowned National League East Champions at the end of Sunday's games being played.

well as a long suffering Philadelphia sports fan, I can only hope that the signs continue to point to a Division Title. You look at the two teams, one looks defeated. The other looks pumped. Everything says that the Phils should win this. But I have been around far to long to say this is ours yet! Sunday at the earliest the Phils clinch. But this will not be easy!

That is because you are a hater as evident in you post in another thread!!! I am stunned that you have so much venom built up against the Mets!!! The Braves have beaten the Mets in 1998 on the last day of the season to eliminate us from going to the playoffs. The Braves then beat us in 6 games in 1999 in the NLCS only to watch you guys crash and burn to the Yankees in the World Series. The Braves beat us after 9/11 in game three of that series at Shea and then beat us in Atlanta the following week to keep us from the playoffs. But you hate us. You find the Mets struggles hilarious. You won the division from 1995 to 2005 in the East and yet you hate us. Are you John Rocker's brother or something??? The last time someone spewed this much venom the Mets way it was your John Rocker from the Atlanta Braves. And yet, I never held that against Braves fans. Maybe I should since it seems you are cut from the same cloth!!! The funny thing is, I root for Chipper ( I have NEVER gotten involved in the Larry chants ), I root for Andruw, I root for Smoltz and I rooted for Glavine and Avery when they were Braves. You will find that we don't hate. We should!!! But we don't!!! I am so damn sorry the Mets did so much wrong that you hate us!!! Excuse the Mets and their fans for living!!!

I certainly do understand you as a long suffering fan!!! May the Phillies and the Mets BOTH figure out how to get in the playoffs!!! If you do win, congratulations, in advance, and may your team go far!!!

4u, it's nothing personal, trust me. I have just always disliked the Mets. I've especially despised them since Glavine left Atlanta. I accepted it, with difficulty, in 2006 when your team ended our division streak. I understand what you said about rooting for Chipper and Smoltz, but, be honest, say if the three teams were locked in a tight race for the division, and then the Mets fell out of it, and couldnt win, do you think that in a race between the Braves and Phillies, that most Met fans would root for the Braves to pull that out, after the frustration we gave you from 1998 to 2006? I think not.
I understand you are on edge now about your team. I was also looking at momentum. The Phillies seem to have it, and the Mets dont.
We will see. It should be a very interesting weekend.

With the Dodgers now eliminated I don't much care who wins the other Divisions, but I voted for the Phillies on Sunday as a guess based on momentum. 😀

All I will say is that last year, nobody gave the NL team a shot to win a World Series going into the playoffs. Didn't matter who it was, they would lose. And the Cardinals went out and easily won the title. I am not saying my Phillies are going to win the World Series. I am not even going to say they will go to the playoffs yet! But be careful when you make bold statements like that. Could haunt you! Besides the Red Sox got their title. Philadelphia is due for some magic! I am 27 and have seen nothing. Sorry, but I think I can be a bit greedy 😉
