Missed this one first time around. My favorite book of all time is easy: Watership Down (And Tales from Watership Down) by Richard Adams. It has been since I picked it up in fourth grade. Favorite authors is harder. Reading is one of my few pleasures in life. Haruki Murakami, Stephen Ambrose, Timothy Zahn, Orson Scott Card, Brian Jacques and Arthur C. Clark are just a few of the many I enjoy. Too many, for my bookshelves only have so much space. =D
Before my eyes got crappy I read constantly. My favorite authors were Shirley Jackson and Peirs Anthony Jacob.....mixed with a little Spillaine and Christie.
I am a ***** for reading..So much in fact that I can't keep straight my favorite authors/books..But one that will always be in the front of my mind is The Midnite Cafe, By Anne Rice, I believe..God, What a fantastic book.
I read the book when I was in Grade 10, about 16 years old. Needless to say, I loved the way it dissected the things we take for granted in society and systematically reduced each one to absurdity. Hilarious read, recommended to anyone.
I'd also like to give a shout out for Animal Farm. I read it in Grade 8, and it was rather instrumental for determining my own political view and where I stood on the spectrums.
People certainly still read. I can barely move for books in my room at uni. 😛
Favourite authors include; Terry Pratchett, George Orwell, Tolkien, Robert Tressell and many more...
Although I don't think I'll ever be able to have one 'favourite' book (too many candidates 😀), the one that changed my life the most was Robert Tressell's the Ragged Trousered Philanthropists.
Im gonna pull a totally girl moment and admit I like romance novles. But to be specific I LOVE vampire romance and Lyndsay Sands is my all time fave. She is so funny!
Favorite authors would be James Joyce, Dostoevsky, and Jack Kerouac for literature. As far as philosophy goes, I'm partial to Aristotle, Sartre, and Marcuse. I won't get in to history and non-fiction, as we'd be here too long.
