Why are non-foot fetishists so repulsed by feet a lot of the time?

Is there some kind of historical or cultural context behind that? Inquiring minds want to know. I like tickling feet, but on their own, I'm indifferent towards them. Everyone else seems to hate feet or find them gross. Why is that?

This has not been my experience for the vast majority of non-foot fetishist. I have certainly met those that find feet gross, but most seem more indifferent. It usually stands out to me as an oddity when someone is actually repulsed by feet. This may just be one of those subcultural things where there are some regions where that kind of becomes the norm. Not sure!

Historically, however, feet have been treated as repulsive or dirty...largely because they were. Good footwear, hygiene and sanitation are unfortunately relatively recent innovations. For most of the time humans have existed, one of the least hygienic, most disease prone parts of the body were the feet. There may be some genetically encoded (or even educationally passed down) behavior that still manifests in some people because of that–I don't know. But I think that history probably has at least something to do with some people's seemingly innate interest in feet. For most of human history, if a potential mate had bad feet, they might not survive, or at the very least might end up as a burden impacting the other's ability to thrive.

Those are just some thoughts–again, I don't really know. It would be interesting to have real data from different regions of the US and the world for how many people are repulsed by feet.

I think I spend way too much time online, because I see so many people on the internet act like they're so repulsed by feet.

Ah, yeah, online can work differently than the real world lol. And there is the bias where the minority, on either extreme end of a perspective, tend to be the loudest. It can give the illusion that a perspective is much more common than it is. But in this case, maybe my experience is the weird one–Who knows!

Probably because foot fetish people sometimes do really gross and unsanitary stuff with feet...like smell them or lick them while their dirty.

It's a mixture of a number of reasons. In my case, I've felt pressured by some (not all) foot fetishists in tickling spaces.

I’m a foot lover…but most feet are gross. The vast majority really. So I get it. But as the world becomes wealthier…people are taking care of their feet more and with that, foot fetishism is becoming mainstream.

I've actually thought about this a lot and there are some things I've noticed. First of all, for any with children who spends time reading books to their kids or watching TV shows, we are taught from a young age that feet are stinky, gross, and are associated with that. Usually for humor purposes for the children, but I have seen on cartoons or in books any time feet are typically mentioned, there's usually a joke about them being stinky or dirty. Sesame Street also comes to mind for some reason. So we basically grow up from childhood being taught thay feet are dirty, stinky, nasty.

Going back farther though, in ancient times like medieval and older societies, it wasn't uncommon to see many barefoot people and feet back then really were dirty and diseased. Idk when foot care became so important, but it hasn't always been a thing.

Also, working Security in the hospital in an area with a high homeless and mental illness population, feet do tend to be one of the grossest, smelliest parts of their bodies. I've seen feet in this hospital so disgusting and nasty that I almost threw up in my own mouth. Thats why when I see those foot fetishists that are like "I love all feet, any feet, doesnt matter to me..." I shake my head. They have no idea what's out there.

Growing up, I used to hear that the feet are considered where waste (impurities that are absorbed into the bloodstream) leaves the body.

In some regard, someone's feet indicate how healthy they are.

So imagine someone who doesn't care about tickling and their perspective on feet.

They probably think about that.

In my experience, it's because they are really aware of those with foot fetishism and find it "gross", therefore completely refusing themselves to want to experiment with it. I've only had one guy I played with that wasn't disgusted with it but was leery about it, yet open minded enough to let me show him the benefits and he wound up enjoying it. I don't seek out to force people to be into it, but it was definitely really awesome that he enjoyed it and gave second thoughts to it all.

"Vanillas" as some fetishists like to call people who are not into fetishes, feel that feet are dirty, sweaty, smell, and often, ticklish, which most people outside the tickling community usually hate to be tickled, as they associate it with an unpleasant sensation of uncontrollable laughter and control. This could be "
Overthinking it" but such is just my view

I think people just parrot something they hear aomeone on a tv show/actor say just to be funny or put down someone. I dont think feet are any different than someone liking my hands.

I've noticed this as well.
Just lately, on vanilla socials, there seems to be a real anti feet sentiment. People complaining about feet on their timeline, even innocuous pictures that just happen to have a bare foot in them.

My extreme tickling fetish is a FOOT tickling fetish. Have no interest or turn on for tickling any other part of the body. Seeing a woman's feet with nice painted toes, smooth, nice looking, in sexy shoes, etc really gets me all hot and bothered.

But here's the odd thing....i'm not a foot fetish person otherwise and would never want a foot in or anywhere near my face or mouth, or i'd probably puke lol Crazy huh?

I think a lot of it comes down to people fearing or mocking what they don't understand. In some cultures, showing your feet is considered disrespectful—they’re the part of the body that touches the ground, so they can be associated with "dirtiness." That mindset can carry over, even subconsciously, into how feet are perceived more broadly.

But beyond that, I think there’s always a certain crowd that enjoys ridiculing others for any kink that falls outside the mainstream—especially when they know most people will nod along.

Within this community, I’ve noticed that foot fetish folks sometimes try to steer the conversation or play into that direction, even when it’s not particularly welcomed or reciprocated. Not everyone in the tickling scene is into feet beyond their ticklishness. (That said… mine are ridiculously ticklish, for the record!)

I think an over fascination by some or people pushing their fetish on others turns a lot of people off. I'm also indifferent to feet, I'll absolutely tickle them if their ticklish but I don't want to worship them in anyway. I think here you'll find there's a strong pro-feet foot fetish camp and a smaller but vocal anti foot camp and then some of us kinda in the middle.
