Why are other fetishes so popular, compared to tickling?

That's a question that totally puzzles me! I don't mean fetishes which are almost considered "mainstream", like a fetish for boobs, ass, feet, lingery, high heels or something like B&D.

I'm talking about some fetishes like Golden Showers or Caviar (both referring to human excrements), asphyxiation, and the like. A while ago, I used to visit the Brazilian MFX and Dragonfilms site rather regularly, as they always brought out a tickle vid every month or so. During the last months, they only have an astonishing amount of new vids on "Lesbian Forced Anal", "Belly Punching", "Spitting", or "Drowning". Are these the Brazilians' favorites?

The Brits seem to prefer flogging or spanking, the majority of German fetish producers concentrate on "Shit" (in the very sense of the word), the Japs are into heavy bondage and torture. America produces such a huge load of porn that it's hard to say what the most popular fetish there is.

Although I'm aware that tickling is seen just as weird by the public, I still don't understand why such violent or un-appetizing topics seem so much more popular than tickling. 😕

Any ideas?

We have a diverse population, with many cultures in the melting pot, and many different tastes.

Maybe we (the members of TMF and other tickle-philes) are just nicer, kinder people than those violence and excrement loving types. 😀 Perhaps nicer and kinder than the general population, if those violent fetishes are indeed so popular.
