Why can't I download .mpeg files anymore?

I'm stumped. All of a sudden I can't download .mpeg or .mpg files through TMF (I can still download from Kazaa.com, and I think RealPlayer is unaffected. Also I'm not having any trouble reading previous mpgs.) I was having some computer problems and did a system restore, but that didn't affect anything else. I think the problem may stem from a plug-in I downloaded to read .avi files. A bunch of my former .mpg files suddenly switched to .avi icons, but they can still only be read as .mpg files. The bigger problem though is that I can't download mpgs. I'd much appreciate any helpful advice. --TKPX
