why do some producers charge more for HD vids?

So I never understood this but why do some producer charge more for HD vids? I mean I am a editor and it doesn't cost me any more to render vids in HD compared to SD, hell it barely even takes longer to render them. It really makes no sense to me. Anyone have a idea why?
And why people would complain about one producer charging more for HD then SD but not others?

Because they can, and if you can charge more money for a slight upgrade in product without the outlay, of course you're going to charge more.

It may not cost anything to make a HD video, but you can still charge more for the slight upgrade in quality, and money makes the world go round...

but then why do people complain one producer does it and not when another does it?

and honestly doesn't that mean those who are willing to pay the extra are crazy?

Crazy or not crazy, they're throwing their money out there for an improved product, they think they are getting the most for their money I assume.

And I'm not sure, it's probably something to do with the overall quality of the video itself over the video quality, so they need to find something to complain about.

This whole thing isn't thinking about the consumer, it's just a way of getting more money out of the consumer and hell, it works.
