why does my upload fail? (quick question)

whenever i try to upload a video file or picture which ARE both under the maximum of bandwidth acceptable, they fail.. why is this? can anyone help me? if so, thanks..

are they in the correct format? There is a limitation on formats that you can upload. That's been my problem in the past. The other thing is that it takes time like up to several minutes to complete an upload.

If your clip or image is under 2 MB and has a valid format to our board, then you could upload it. Also, you must to check if your computer has a virus or some spyware, in order to discard that possibility.

Indeed, the primerisimo cosquillero is correct. vBulletin says the limit is currently five megabytes. However, the true limit is two megabytes due to PHP limitations. Were the limit raised, the server could potentially become unstable.

We have had some reports of upload problems from other members too, which we are investigating. By any chance, are you using IE 7.0 or Vista?

I'm using Firefox but did try to use IE 7.0 and it didn't work on that neither..

Well, if you can't upload on this site, you can try an alternative. 🙂

1) I'm sure you can send the file(s) to the fantabulous Mods on this forum via email (PM them first). I'm sure they'd be happy to upload it for you.

2) You could try a hosting site like Rapidshare (if you're truly desperate) and then post the link here. Not truly advised as it does seem to annoy some of the people on here when people use rapidshare. 😛

3) Try a site like livevideo or (as an absolute last resort) youtube. But be warned, if its an XXX clip, it most likely won't last long. XD

EDIT: I'm just assuming it'sa video clip. In which case, if it's a picture, option 1 and 2 are the only options. 😛

Is there anyway to change the charts saying 5MB so that they say 2MB? You've probably already tried, I was just curious. It would eliminate a lot of confusion. 😛

Yes, there is. I've not done it due to fears that changing the settings might screw something else up. I'll add a note to try changing it to 2 MB and then seeing if it affects anything.

Note that the attachment upload problem has been located. If anyone is currently having this difficulty please send myself a PM so that I can fix your account. It has to be done on a user-by-user basis. I'll need your TickleTheater password to ensure a smooth fix.
