Foley talked to Michaels earlier that night, and what was discussed?

Shawm coming back for that one match, and here he is, 16 months later, still wrestling...

"It's like a fever; a disease, Mick....no matter what, you just can't get it out of your system..."

Mick didn't want to wrestle again ever-(as far as the storyline goes), so what I think they're gonna do is say that was the reason he left; he didn't want to get that "fever" again....

Just my opinion....

And Mimi....

Dear, loving Meems....

Cram that cookie up your ass.

Thanks.

😛

Mick's back in the business? I love the way they completely ignore old storylines that contradict the new ones. The main reason he was supposed to have left was because he lost the retirement HIAC match to LeVesque at No Way Out a few years back.

Not heard about this new storyline; havn't watched it for a couple of years now. All seems to be 1 week title reigns, transitory character turns and worthless PPV's these days.

No, it Doesnt sound stupid it sounds like a fresh new way for Mick to return.

Mick Foley not wanting to wrestle because he doesn't want to get a "fever" for wrestling? No offense but I can't picture him saying that.

I can picture him saying that he was afraid to wrestle again because of injury, because of all the punishment he has taken in the ring and he just can't take it anymore. Because he's afraid to take anymore of it.

The only way I can picture him saying that is if he came out as Dude Love and said "I don't wanna wrestle because I don't want to get a feva, a feva for WRASSLING!" 😀

Unless pro-wrestling has some kind of addictive quality i'm not aware of...

I was going to create a thread for this exact topic if no one else was going to. I'm glad to see someone has, as it saves me the trouble. LOL 😀

Anyways, Orton called Foley a coward. Thats simply not true. As I said in another wrestling thread, they probably just want us to believe that he was spooked. Foley would have had no problem getting into the ring, in shape or not, and fighting Orton one on one under the stipulations (which are completely fair) he negotiated with Bishoff. Realistically, Foley probably would have lost. Plot wise he probably wouldn't have for various reasons.

So the only logical reason I can think for why they decided to have Mick just up and leave without an explaination is for the sake of preserving future plot points or events.

Realistically speaking, plot points aside, if its true that Mick doesn't want to catch the 'fever' and be pulled back in like the Mafia does to you (as Shawn assuringly joked), then its because hes finally realized or has come to terms with the reality that his body is aging, hes not as strong as he used to be, and his body probably can't take the same ammount of abuse that it used to be able to. As a human being, hes just trying to preserve whats left of his life. Because he knows that if he gets that 'fever' again it might very well be the end of him. Not because he'd be wrestling, but because he'd feel the need to revert back to the real Mick Foley in all his personas. Cactus Jack is his most feared opponent now.

took a while to get over that scene.

i spent a few days thinking this over. i think he'll come back but as a tag team with rock. they already did this against the "french" team. so come tonight, i think he'll say he has one more stipulation, to make it a tag team match.

or he'll just say he was ordered by linda mcmahon, and the board not to wrestle.

Addictive?

Yes....

With all my injuries, I have wanted so badly to go back, but my body has just too much pain nowadays....

But mentally, yes, the need-want-is always there....

Could you give up tickling?

Nope...

It is a form of addiction, in a way.

Roddy Piper devoted a chapter of his autobiography to the idea of being addicted to wrestling (he refers to it as "the Sickness"), and says it's a widespread phenomenon. Just look at how guys like Austin, Michaels, Tommy Dreamer, and, yes, Foley keep going on even after suffering injuries that would be career-ending in every other sport. Can't just be because they need the money.

Still, it seems like a concept that's a little too subtle and insider-y to really resonate with the audience -- but if anyone can get the idea across in a way people will grasp, it's Foley.

The question is, where do you go from there? So Mick doesn't want to wrestle because he's afraid he'll be sucked back into doing it full-time again ... then what?

Yeah, I've tried to look at this in every possible way and light.

Even if this does turn out for the better, how is Foley going to explain what happened to the fans? 'Oh, I was scared and felt like leaving, I'm sorry! I didn't know what to do!' Thats the last thing a Foley fan wants to hear from the hardcore legend.

Whether this is true or not, how does a man of his magnitude confess something that is so unlike him in a way that doesn't hinder his reputation among the locker and his fans?

The key is in how to successfully bring Foley back in any capacity without him looking like a coward, as Randy Orton suggested. Orton also said legends don't cry, and supposedly Foley was crying.

Although, in retrospect, this may have been a good move. Because it shows us that he is vulnerable and only human too. Seeing him vulnerable and afraid like that draws us closer to him as fans, I think. Smart move.

And yes, there was mention of the reformation of the Rock and Sock Connection. Perhaps thats how they are going to do this. Although, what about co-gm? What about outside consultant? What about the things Foley practically promised would happen as he was heading for the ring?

Is all this over as Bishoff said it would be if he left? Or is Linda McMahon going to once again do something rightious and good? I like it when she foils her husband's plans. Its funny. ^__^

I also want to see Stephanie back in some capacity as well.

I want 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper back too, as he was brought up right now. Are there any plan to bring Roddy Piper back in any way? I didn't grow up with this wrestler, but I do know a bit about him, and when he returned to Smackdown with his 'Piper's Pit' gimmack, I was entertained.

Sure, the guy was really out of shape the last we saw him, but if Hogan can make a come-back, why not Piper? Sure, hes not as popular, but if Vince can bring a guy back for a little while, then why not for a bit longer?

Mick Fever

I never watch Raw, so I am unqualified to comment on the goings on there. However, from what I do know about pro wrestling they do tend to repeat storylines and angles, etc. With that being the case I agree with the prior post that Mick and Rock will once again form the Rock n sock connection. Also look for Stephanie to reappear at some point. On a recent showing of the Wayne Brady show, Steph was guest and made the comment "anything can happen in the wwe" and also brought up the fact that she never actually quit the "i quit" match with vince. So there is a loophole there for her return.

Vince put Stephanie in a match against himself a couple months ago at a PPV. It was an 'I Quit' Match. The stipulation was that if Stephanie didn't accept the match she would forfeit her position and job as general manager of Smackdown, and if she did accept the match and submitted under the rules for that match, she would also be fired. Vince also put his position of chairman of the board on the line if he should lose.

Basically, he beat the crap out of his own daugther and started strangling her with a pipe I believe. It got so bad that Linda McMahon had to throw in the towel for Stephanie as she was unable to even move.

But like tickle just mentioned, she didn't actually submit or tap out in any way, shape, or form. Much like Benoit didn't against his recent title match with Lesnar.

So there might be a way for Stephanie to come back to Smackdown, and even perhaps as general manager based on the technicalities of the match itself.
