Why I Hate The NFL And Miss The NHL

Did you SEE that friggin hit? He damn near decapitated him! I don't think it was intentional...I think he merely aimed his hit badly, but it should still have been a punishable manuever. I'm glad they did not suspend him, for I honestly feel that would have been going too far, but a game ejection and fine seem proper in this case.

I don't know what kind of football you'd like to see played, but I'd just as soon see a game that's safe enough to keep the players from being seriously injured. Ferguson's neck could have been broken in that play. Defensive moves that are that risky should NOT be allowed.

Yes I Saw It...

And have inflicted and received similar hits. It's all part of the game. Until maybe 5 years ago that hit was legal. 15 years ago an expected part of the game.

If you care for your own safety then you don't belong in the NFL.

The modern NFL player is a pussy, and doesn't deserve the accolades that go with being a professional football player.

The NHL needs to come back NOW!

so where should they draw the line at the hits...when they have body bags on field or more ambulances than players on the sidelines? yes there is supposed to be contact but where do they draw the line? are they supposed to let the "star" quarterbacks and other "stars" go out and get pummeled week after week til they have to retire at 26 or 27 years old with their knees shot to hell and their hands so arthritic that they are lucky that they can open a bottle of meds that are prescribed for said arthritis? or have so many concussions that they'll be lucky if they can remember their wife/girlfriend's name?

yes it's not as hard hitting as it used to be, then again they could always revert back to not wearing helmets🙄

I agree with Tron........ I honestly can't wait untill the NHL comes back so we can see some real action.

The Trouble Is..

The players are franchises in and of themselves. Back in the 60s and 70s players rarely got hurt and if they did they actually PLAYED hurt believe it or not. NO one died, and careers were rarely ended, the career end rate hasn't changed at all. But the players sure have turned into pussies.

Wish the NHL lockout was over so I can see some real professional athletes playing, you know, guys who realize getting hurt is part of the game and are willing to risk their bodies to win.

In my day this was a legal hit, and still should be. The game is so watered down and full of pussy ass prima donnas that it's hardly a contact sport anymore.

i honestly have to agree..that..the hit was rough..but its football..i mean, i feel bad for both guys..Donovon clearly didnt mean to decapitate Robert and Robert..we was defenseless and got the shit knocked outta him. I mean..its so hard to say that was an cheap shot..I was just glad RF was okay from that hit. Football is brutal. yeah..i think Donovan's arm might have been high..ok it was high..but in football you go 110% all the time and things like this unfortunately happen. its just sad to see it affect two young players like that. I hope donovon does get his arms down lower next time, but isnt afraid to wallop on someone and i hope RF has the courage to go back out there and get across the middle and make catches. Thank God everyone is okay tho. Scary when i first seen it. Even in the 'Phins game against NE, Ayanbadejo got his head ripped off..practically intentionally by a lineman after an int on brady and i dont recall anything being called on that..clearly i thought it was a facemask..but i happened to click the wrong button and miss the entire call. Cheap shots..i dont like..Hard Hits..i love.

With that said, why bother inventing new helmets with higher safety standards? Why bother creating new protective gear for quarterbacks? Why bother even wearing a helmet? Or better yet, bring back sharp steel cleats, not that rubber crap.

Get real. This is soon to be 2005. Not the stone age.

Sorry, You're Wrong..

I have no problem with better safety gear, improved helmuts and getting rid of artificial turf. These should allow GREATER contact. I am NOT for artificially limiting the contact the players have on the field.

They're pussies.

NHL now thats a joke

Lets start throwin windmill style punches with thick ass gloves full of padding n call it a fight.

The only reason the NFL is becoming so called soft is becasue they want it to be a high scoring shot outs. For example look at the new 5 yard holding rule on the defensive backs, no room for contact.

Now with the game becomming quicker defence players dont have time to set up a hit anymore. Does the name Darren Woodson ring a bell, maybe Ray Lewis doe, both very hard hitters.

Now in regards to the recent hit, what do you people want, Fergusen in a wheel chair for the rest of his life, personally i thought the fine was enough and that he shouldnt of been thrown out of the game.

Oh by the way if people want to see hard hits in the NFL go watch Monday Night countdown on espn and wait for the segment called 'jacked up'. YOU'LL see ur hits

Bullshit...

Go back to when the game was played as it should be. VEry few career ending injuries with an injury rate less than today. Because the players knew they'd get whacked everyday.

It's time the players told the NFL their game sucks, and to allow real contact.

Most of those pusies couldn't survive 5 minutes of NHL contact.

I'm guessing you are talking about hockey fights... Well, you have zero clue what you are talking about, son.... First off, they do not fight with the gloves on genius, they drop them and then fight. It's called bare knuckles.... Windmill style punches?? Every hockey fighter has it's own style but many know what they are doing.

Watch who you call 'son' chump. NHL is a poor game at best thats why it aint on anymore, now have a look at the NFL games are sold out and even the Cards are getting near full stadiums.

HAHAha bare knuckle my German ass, they just come in with eye closed and start swinging, then once in a blue moon you might see the gloves come off.

Saying NFL Players wouldnt last 5mins in a hockey game, what a joke. NFL players are far better athletes. I would like to see a hockey player step onto an NFL field.

You are right. The NHL is nearly dead and it's not on right now... But what does that have to do with NHL players being tougher then NFL players?? I thought that was what the debate was about, quit switching things around, son. Chump? Let's try to debate without the name calling....

You don't want to get into a hockey debate with me because you won't win..... Judging by your last post you do not know anything about the NHL... Once in a blue moon the gloves will come off?? I have over 80 tapes going back to the 70's full of hockey fights, most of the tapes 2 hours worth of toe to toe fights.

Even though hockey fights are down last year this is a complete list of fights per team.

I Played In The NFL

And I also play hockey. I can tell you which sport is harder and which has the tougher athletes, and it ain;t the NFL.
