Why is it that....

I don't know if this is harassment of aa user or something, but I was trying to send PMs to a few people who were on and have been here for a long time(Like since '06) to encourage them to raise that post count to 1.

However, it says that they both either set their thing to NOT recieve PMs or that they can't recieve PMs.

I think that should be ended, if you don't want PMs, then just dont ever click it. If it's about them not activating their accounts, I think a good thing to do would be that they can't view pics/download clips until they have 5 posts.

Just a few thoughts o' mine.

Well maybe they don't have anything to say. When I joined this site I didn't post anything for a long time. Months sometimes goes by without me posting anything. I guess the reason for that is I used to feel intimdated. I would see these rude posters and think "I don't want them messing with me" so I don't say anything. Besides it's not like this forum is dead or anything.

No, you can receive a PM, doesn't mind how much post you have. Existed an old rule called "The 10 Power" or something similar, this rule obliged to have at least 10 posts, before to watch/download any pix or clip, but this one was removed because anyway the lurkers' trouble didn't decrease.

When i did join here, i was watching during 1 or 2 months (i don't remember exactly), just paying attention at forum developing, how people interchanged opinions and the kind of conversations used here. After that, i just did start to post.

The reason we have the "receive no PM's except from friends and mods/admins" is for user protection.

For instance, take a "Female 'lee" on this site. She says hello once in a certain thread, and BOOM, all the desperate guys start sending her PM's asking her to post pics of her feet or to meet up.

Emptying her full inbox will just allow more messages to be sent.

Basically, it's there to stop harrassment from taking place. >_<

EDIT: I apologise if this example was taken the wrong way (in any form). Just a universal truth. 😛

That's obviously not the only reason why we have the "PM restriction" option. Other reasons can be:

- Computer issues
- Preference for Solitude
- Just a natural preference for some reason.

But that's the most common reason out there, and a very important one. 😛
