I'm still somewhat new around these parts and I agree that the atmosphere here is a decent one. I'm a member of the TMF as well but only really post in certain sub forums over there, for example the political forum is something I'd keep well away from. I guess I'm more of a lurker at the moment but I always like finding out what's going on round here.

Well, it's certainly a dandy place for arguing. Or at least it was, years ago when the staff there at the TMF (wisely) decided to create the P&R subforum. Haven't visited in ages, but I take it debates rage on?

I left the TMF when that board became more popular than almost anything else on it~ there are SO many places on the internet for that kind of back and forth, and yet a tickling community goes at it there day and night... I've seen good people who otherwise had awesome conversations and the like completely pack their bags and leave because of that board. If that ever happened to TT~ I just... I just hope it doesn't, seriously.

I think it can sour things for some when there are too many threads about politics and religion and other hot-button, heavy-minded subjects. Best to keep things glib and none-too-serious. At least in my case, anyway.

Well, there IS a reason that sub-forums are made. That particular forum is out of the way, and people don't need to browse through it to find anything not pertaining to Politics or Religion.

Anyone who is interested in arguing either topic best be prepared; be prepared to be mocked, ridiculed, proven wrong, proven right, and other such things. If you aren't interested in any of those things...well, nobody is demanding that you go.

It probably boils down to what, as an individual, your looking for on the forums. Myself I like the element of people coming together sharing their creativity, experiences and general energy. There's always room for debate of course and I agree with Mash it's down to the person to pick and choose.

Now, I have an account of the TMF as well, and that's all find and dandy, but I really enjoy posting on these forums more. I know the people here a lot better, and I think it's a lot less likely that I'll be called a left-wing, baby killing, muslim hugging, godless, radical carpet bomber here. =\


(No, I haven't actually been given that title yet, but I'm sure it's on the horizon somewhere.)
