Why no HTTPS on the TMF?

Is there a technical reason to not have the connections secure on this site? It won't change me coming here, but I'm just curious.

What for? To be as secure as fetlife? The forum seems to have a steady stream of members and it's a pretty open one at that. ...fetlife is the site that emphasizes privacy.

We did discuss it briefly, and our glorious leader reminded me that so long as members are allowed to have signature images, there will always be warnings about insecure content on a secure page (as those images are hosted outside of the TMF). It somewhat defeats the purpose. We may still go ahead with it, but I am concerned about trading one warning (the login warnings in Firefox, among others) for another (that the page has a mix of secure and insecure content and is not truly secure).
