Why The Baseball Hall Of Fame Make No Semse

I congratulate all of those players who were inducted into the Baseball Hall Of Fame Today.

However.''

Today's inductions also proved that the credentials to enter the Baseball Hall Of Fame make no sense.

One of the inductees today was long time Tigers starting pitcher Jack Morris.

Morris has 254 wins, and a career 3.90 ERA.

While it took Morris over 20 years to be enshrined.

I personally feel that Morris stats do not merit Hall of Fame induction.

Especially when.

More deserving players.. like.

Tommy John 288 wins, and a career 3.34 ERA. The man who had the surgery that changed baseball. Ligament transplant surgery, is not in the Hall.

Jim Kaat. who had 283 wins, and a much lower ERA than Morris, is not in the Hall.

There are other deserving players, who are also not in the Hall.

The two cases of John, and Kaat, came to mind, especially with the induction of Morris today.

Thoughts on this?

My take on it? I wouldn't be surprised if they took a metric ton of money under the table in bribes.

The only "possibility".

Morris did win three World Series from 1991 to 1993 in Minnesota, and Toronto, including the memorable 10 inning shutout performance against John Smoltz in Game Seven of the 1991 World Series, which was one of the best World Series games ever pitched.

Other than that, I would say that Morris numbers are mediocre at best, and don't warrant induction.

250 wins, and a nearly 4 ERA. Are not HOF worthy, in my view.

From what I know about the HOF ballot process, it seems complicated. In a nutshell, I think players have a certain amount of years to get a certain percentage of the votes in order to be enshrined.

I think in some cases it's just a matter of timing. Which writers are voting and who all is on the ballot in any given year. I wouldn't be surprised if more players like Morris don't make it in in the coming years given that many of the players being nominated are linked to PED's in some capacity. Many writers have made it clear they have no intention of voting for guys like Bonds, McGwire and Sosa and would rather give their vote to players like Morris who aren't known for cheating.

My take? I'm fine with it. To your point, Mitch, I do think it would be cool if there were ways to retroactively vote players in who are deemed worthy. Not sure the best way to go about it though
