Why the edits?

I've seen a lot of videos where there are edits in the middle of the video, with no apparent reason. They aren't switching positions or anything. Why are these edits there? The only thing I can think of is maybe the model used a safeword and they cut it out to make it look like they didn't. Or, they gave her a break out of the goodness of their hearts.

I can't speak for every producer, but if you ever see that in one of our videos, it's because either there was a break, mistake or a continuity problem (light pops, phone rings, etc.) and we don't want to change the shot. We don't use safewords in our videos, but that could be another reason.

TickleShow is right. It's really a case by case scenario. I know with us, the only real reason for a "cut" are angle changes, or continuity problems (ropes loosen...etc.). The trick is just to become so good at editing that the viewer doesn't notice the cut. LOL! 😉
