These fires have caused a lot of damage here over the past few months. We are in the midst of a drought, and that coupled with high winds makes them difficult to fight. Yesterday afternoon a wildfire was ignited in Oak Hill, a suburb on the southwest side of Austin.

Watching the news coverage of people evacuating their homes was heartbreaking but one thing that came to mind was this; If I had to get out of my apartment quickly, what would I grab? Most of the things I care about are in storage at my brothers house so I would take four things. My Taraus revolver, my laptop and pictures of my mother and late brother. What would you take if you had to get out in a hurry?

These fires are only about 50 miles west of me and the wind is still blowing. No rain in sight. I guess my computer and my photo albums would be two things to go with me. My Moms Quilts would also go. So many things in my house that my mother made. How could I leave them behind?
