Just wanted to make a quick thread about the newest Windows. I have been using 8.1 for quite some time, didn't like it at first but I grew used to it, but now they are offering a free upgrade to 10 if I reserve it right now and I am curious if anyone here has used it before, and what your thoughts on it were? I am not sure if I wanna go ahead with it since going from 7 to 8 was hard enough of an adjustment

I personally have not used it, I didn't want to participate in the beta because right now I couldn't afford a computer if something went horribly wrong lol

But from what I've seen and read, it looks like it will just be building upon Windows 8.1 and adding in more interaction with devices like XBOX, while bringing some things we missed from previous versions back (such as the start bar).

I also saw the demo for those Hololens goggles with Windows 10. THAT would be pretty friggin amazing. I'd say maybe reserve it just in case, then when July rolls around decide if you want to upgrade or wait it out? Especially if you have more than one computer, it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. I'm probably going to just upgrade the desktop to it and see and leave my laptop be for now -- that is if the upgrade is truly free. 😉

I'm really eager to give Cortana a try, haha

Just checked the Microsoft site. If you reserve it you have up to one year to choose to install/upgrade before it expires, so you can get the reservation and wait it out and see people's response to it before you upgrade, if you want to take the safe route with me hehe 😀

Oh sounds awesome, so there's literally no repercussions to accepting it for the time being. Thanks for the heads up! Having an actual start menu is a huge bonus cause not having one in 8 really threw me off

I dind't test the technical beta, but i saw the new features and it's 100% better than windows 8.crap (i hate windows 8). It has a better interface, that replace the old method to use menus (like start), or windows 8 applications with windows like any other program, wich is more confortable. It has a very useful search bar risht in the task bar, so you can open your programs without even open the start menu. And it isn't so different of windows 8 in how it works, so you won't have to learn to use this windows from zero if that was you fear, if you know how to use windows 8.crap you will be able to use windows 10 without problem n.n

Alrightttt. Definitely going to reserve my copy for both systems. Just gotta remember to back everything up by July so I don't lose my programs.

The one thing I'm worried about right now is compatibility. But I suppose they're going to keep the "run in compatibility mode" options for them... I hope. o_o;

Oh, come on Nuci (Can i call you just "Nuci"? it sounds cute, and it's easier xD), windows 8 is full of compatibility errors, that's the fisrt reason why i hate windows 8. And when i upgraded to windows 8.1, i hoped that they would have fixed that errors, but windows 8.1 had even MORE compatibility errors. So i don't think it can be worst, i think it will be better, or in the worst case, the same sh*t. I', 99.9% sure thar programs that ran OK in windows 8.1, will run in windows 10. Trust me, i'm a nerd (?)

You're going to have compatibility issues either way. Windows 8 is abhorrent, might as well make the switch.

Well I have Window 7 actually, and it's brand new. So I'm curious if it really is safe for me to try it myself. I mean according to what I'm seeing, it seems like a good idea, but I can't help but feel cautious.

Edit: Reason why I'm asking, is because the price I spend for the new laptop, 2 years service plan, and tax, went to a total of $939.97. And boy it wasn't easy.

Nu/Nuci, anything where I know I"m being addressed is fine lol. I never actually had much problem when I upgraded to 8.1 compatibility wise. My biiiig complaint is that windows 8 hates plugins and will DESTROY your virtual memory if you use them. :'I (Google Chrome was a noooo gooo for Win8 *sob*)

You're right, what the hell \o/ Next time I let this update I'll make sure to reserve a copy.

It won't hurt to reserve the copy and see how other people's experiences pan out. 🙂 You have up to a year after it's released to choose to install it. That's plenty of time to observe!

A year, huh? That gives me enough time to see if it's a good idea. Thanks.
