Woman Charged in Death of Her Baby

On Thursday in Salt Lake City,UT 28 year-old Melissa Ann Rowland was charged with murder after ignoring her doctors warning to have a c-section in order to save the life of her twin babies. One of the children was a stillborn and was found to have died 2 days prior to the January 13th delivery. According to doctors if Rowland had had the c-section performed between Christmas and Jan 9th the child would have lived. Rowland displayed a "depraved indifference to human life" that was the cause of the baby's death, stated prosecuters. A nurse told According to what a nurse told the police Rowland said a Caesarean would "ruin her life" and she would rather "lose one of the babies than be cut like that." The charges against Rowland carry five years to life in prison. She was jailed on $25,000 bail. I hope they do more than fine her.

This woman may want to consider a Krazy Glue douche to insure she NEVER has children again. And God help the little one that survived. What kind of rotten mother has he had the misfortune to be born to. I'll tell you one thing, the Doctor should have told her that the only way to get the dead baby out would be to CUT HER OPEN! That would certainly fix her, but good. Then she'd have the scar on her body to match the one I hope she suffers in her conscience.

That is unbelievable! My oldest niece was born by emergency c-section in 1995, and all sis was worried about was the baby....she could care less about scars, surgery, or even her own well being....all Becky's concern was focused on her little precious baby in distress.

The good thing about this story is that the surviving twin has been adopted by a loving family, and will no longer have any contact with her negligent birth mother.

This woman deserves a stiff sentence. She has no human conscience. My friend's sister has had several C sections, and, thankfully, has three healthy children with a fourth on the way. There are so many options for women, but this woman just is heartless. She deserves a long time to cool her heels in jail, I'd say 10-20 yrs minimum or maybe even life. There should be a lesson that people cant do things like this to their kids and get away with it.

To think of what Jpie and I had to go through to have a family. the financial commitment BEFORE the kids weere even in our arms, the red tape, paperwork, waiting, the back and forth trips to drop off documents. Don't get me wrong, it was all well worth it and I hardly even think about it (unless I respond to threads like this).😀

The point I am trying to make and it was probably expressed in previous threads before my time is that there is no screening biological parents like there is for adoptive parents, like myself and Judy, and it's the kids who suffer when they are bought into the world to a subhuman being like that. That woman deserves a good stiff penalty
