Hello all. Was just browsing and happened upon this thread. It's possible I can shed some light on this subject. Perhaps this tape is the one I gave to you a while back, Daddy? If it is not I apologize for the intrusion. But if it is, I can speak somewhat to it's origins.
The stuff on this tape is partly mine, which I taped firsthand from tv shows, commercials, and movies. Other clips I acquired in trade with others who had done likewise. I have continued this practice since the making of that tape, and my collection that was something like 2 hours long is now more like 5 or 6. I've dealt with several people in this regard, most recently Nontkl, who I know many of you know. He has all of my mainstream collection, and I his. I have never traded with Mr Speer to my recollection, though some of the stuff he has done I well could have received second hand. I will agree with Mr Speer in that making a quality tape of this type can be a lot of painstaking work, especially if you are at concerned with quality. If any of the stuff that I have received was done by Mr Speer, then I applaud his efforts, since most of what I have received in trade is of high quality. In fact, Max, if you wish too you can send me a mail about the contents of the tapes you've made and I can tell you if they are in my collection. Perhaps, by way of thanks, I could even make you a tape of more recent stuff I have recorded, to flesh out your collection a bit. Just a thought.
In regard to the tape in question that Daddy offered, I don't really know if copyright law applies there, since most all of the stuff on it has appeared in the free public domain of broadcast television,... either network or cable. At least that's where I get most of my stuff from. Perhaps someone in the legal profession could advise.
As far as Daddy's offer is concerned, I myself have absolutely no problem with it. Clearly the man's not trying to get rich here, as the money he was proposing to charge would barely cover copying and mailing the tape. If people wanna see it, and he wants ta make it, I say go for it. A nice thing to provide for the community, to my way of thinking at least. If he were ripping people off, or charging huge prices, (as some in the past have done), that would be a different can of worms, but it seems clear that's not the case. So assuming that this tape (or any part of it) is mine, then Daddy has my blessing to procede, (for what it's worth), if he wishes.
As far as "credit" goes, I doubt if Daddy even knows where many of these clips came from. Even I don't know the original origin of all of them,..... and I'm the one who compiled them. I'm just happy someone captured them on tape and preserved them, and I'm happy to have had a small part in contributing to that compilation. To any and all others who have had a hand in preserving and compiling these mainstream clips, I extend a heartfelt thanks. Especially since these random mainstream occurences were, for many of us, our first and most treasured form of contact with tickling media. It's my hope that we can all continue to preserve and share this resource with each other when the opportunity exists. (Wow, kinda sounded like a politician toward the end there.)
