I thought this might be a fun thread to throw out there. Not too long ago, I was thinking about the heyday of the old WWF and other territories. As you'll recall, back then it was not uncommon for certain wrestlers to hold championship belts for years at a time. So I was thinking. Who, in your opinion, never became a World Champion (in any fed) that clearly deserved the opportunity? I'll throw out a few to get us started. Looking forward to hearing your own thoughts.

- "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase - Actually, he would have held the WWF Championship had it not been for backstage politicking. I read this years ago... believe it was Savage and Warrior that did this. Easily one of the most hated heels of his generation. I think it's a shame he never got the belt. And no, I don't count the time Andre the Giant handed it over to him.

- "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig and "Ravishing" Rick Rude - I put these two together because they were such similar competitors. Athletic, technically sound, and very over as arrogant heels. They both should have advanced past the Intercontinental Championship, but never did in the WWF.

Thoughts and opinions welcome. 😀

Hennig was a world champion in the AWA & Rick Rude was a world champion in WCCW

Roddy Piper never winning the WWF title. The excuse given on his DVD was that he didn't need the title because he was already very popular. That's about as contradictory as you can get considering Hogan and Cena held/hold the title longer than needed.

Rick Rude is in the top 5 for title reigns with his holding of the US title (378 days)

Its amazing watching clips form back then how amazing of a worker Rude was. Rude vs Sting were epic matches

million dollar man is my favorite wrestler ever so him... william regal i know he is still around but he has been for a long time... razor ramon when he was razor ramon...crush...papa shango i think they could have done so much more with that charecter than they did those are the ones off the top of my head at the moment

Razor would've gotten it had he stayed with the WWF.

i dunno i think they were content with keeping him at the intercontinental title status (which was much more prestigious then) OWEN HART is another who deserved the strap and not because he died young but because he was an amazing wrestler while he was around

British Bulldog. Great technical wrestler and powerhouse, should have won the title in the mid-90's.

I don`t think Wahoo Mc Daniel was ever a world champion

you have entirely too much time on your hands my dear!

Agreed about Owen. He is greatly missed to this day. How about Brian Pillman? Obviously, he wasn't in the WWF for long enough as his life was cut tragically short. Do you believe he would have been a credible world champion during the "Attitude" era?

probaly not he is the equivilant of matt hardy today..often put into big storylines and big matches but always did the job.. i realize matt is a champ now but for most of his career that is what it was like.. he was better in his early days with austin as his partner and as flyin brian pillman

Well, maybe over time he could have been, but I see what you mean. I was also a fan of Pillman's during the Flyin' Brian era. It's also strange looking back and remembering that Austin ever had hair. 😉

Pillman was broken goods by the time he was in WWF

Naturally when he develops his Loose Cannon angle to its fullest he gets pulled from ECW but he was nothing more than a midcarder in WWF but was prob the start of Steve Austin becoming who he became. I still recall going crazy watching Austin break into Pillmans house with a golf club and pillman pulling a gun on him

But they couldnt and wouldnt put the heavyweight title on him, esp when you had hart, undertaker and others perennially with the title and Pillman was more of a fan of the marks, not the average wrestling fans

that was a pretty good angle .. he and pillman had a decent rivarly but when it was done they just let pillman waste away
