WTF, Billy Bob Thornton Will Be Freddy Krueger?

I HOPE this is not true. In today's IMDB news it said this:

Thornton To Star In Nightmare On Elm Street Remake

Billy Bob Thornton will star as Freddy Krueger in a new Nightmare On Elm Street movie.

The 53-year-old actor will take on the chilling role in a remake of the 1984 original.

Robert Englund, who played the part in eight films, revealed that Thornton will star in the horror films and is an "excellent choice" for the role.

He adds, "A big budget should mean the film will look a lot better than some of the old movies."


I really can't see anyone else as Freddy except for Robert Englund. I don't know why Billy Bob is the chosen one for this. If it was my decision I would say they should have gotten Robert Knepper.

i say they should just leave it alone and that hollywood sucks as bad as the music industry, AND they should get talent back in film and start coming up with original half way decent films, instead of destorying what once was classics.

Oh dear lord, I hope that this is a joke. If they're going to do a re-make, they should still have Robert Englund as Freddy. It wouldn't be too hard for him to take the roll again. As for the other characters? Who cares!

the hollywood brother wants robert to keep playing freddy for many years but the hollywood brother could see billy bob play freddy. in most movies freddy was funny while he killed his not always innocent prey. billy bob is funny in many situations and let not forget that he probably got tot tickle miss jolie every time he wanted too

Like somebody else said, remaking a classic film is just plain stupid (Rob Zombie's Halloween 🙄). The films that should get remade are the ones that were expected to be good the first time but weren't.

Not everything on the internet that is a rumor is true so let's not take this with a grain a salt. It could be just that a rumor and i hope that it is. I have never seen anything that Billy Bob Thornton has been in and i still won't.

And i think Billy Bob Thornton has only been in one horror movie and that was Chopper Chicks in Zombietown in 1991 (which i haven't seen that movie) But still. Please tell me that this is just a false rumor.

As much as I love Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger and him in horror movies ingeneral (like him in the movie Hatchet and with also Kane Hodder and Tony Todd) He is not exactly very truthful when it comes to some of his quotes that is. He has been talking about a FREDDY VS JASON VS MICHAEL MYERS starring Jamie Lee Curtis for awhile now and obviously that's a project that is never going to happen.

And producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form confessed at the recent San Diego Comic-Con that they haven't officially secured the rights to remake A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET just yet. It's still in the works so why would they even consider casting right now when there is no movie no production or no script yet.

But Robert Knepper would make a good Freddy Krueger he has real acting skills and has had actually been on hit tv shows and been in well known movies.

What about a brand new Nightmare on Elm Street movie though? Not including Freddy vs. Jason or any Remake

I have very little hope for any of these newer remakes. Is there a severe lack of creativity in Hollywood? Must make garbage or remake good movies into more garbage instead of making new good movies?
