Hey we rarely if ever post here because we worry about controversy. But recently our Yahoo account has been cancelled taking with it 12 Groups we formed over 3 years of loyal service. Apparently because we have lives and didn't use it for a month, it got cancelled! It's unbelievable! That it amongst the countless reasons we hate Yahoo!

Here, here. My Yahoo! group for celeb footlovers got canned, even though it was in the adult section, because some people think it is morally wrong. Pfeh.

Let them kill our groups - we'll just go elsewhere and be even more popular because of the notoriety gained from them wiping the group in the first place. 🙂

Yeah, thats pretty stupid for them to create a section for fetish material in the adult section and then delete groups that are placed there anyway.

I had my group in the adult section under fetish only for protection, since there was nothing really "adult" about it. It did work for nearly three years, until recently they deleted my e-mail address. The group was/is still there. I just don't have access to it anymore.

I have a sense though that someone reported my group to try and be malicious, or someone with really sexual material on a truely adult group linked themselves to me without me knowing it, and I sort of got "lumped" together with them and treated the same way. My group was fine for years and suddenly I have a problem? Also, yahoo was actually aware that I had the group, and they didn't delete it and even helped me with a technical problem I had once. That means they had to of known what type of material was there.

In my case at least, I don't feel that this was yahoo's bias and I still support the company's services by having e-mail addresses with them. If I had it (my group) taken from me back then, I'd probably be as pesimistic as other artists who have lost their groups are. I also had a very good run with the group and the service, and it was time for me to move on anyway.

The point is though, they shouldn't create a section for it if they don't even approve of this material to begin with or are going to be discriminate toward it.

I'm very sorry to hear that. All that work and poof!! Yahoo must think you have all day to spend time on their site.

Yahoo has a reputation for randomly deleting adult groups, particularly large ones that supposedly use a lot of bandwidth. If one must use Yahoo Groups, I recommend not using the same account as owner on all of one's groups, because if the owner account is deleted, ALL of the co-owned groups will be deleted as well. Having a different owner-of-record for each of my groups served me well when our largest one vanished; our two smaller backup groups were untouched, and the larger of the two is now my "main" Yahoo Group.

Boycott Yahoo!!!

I think its pretty obvious from my sig how I feel about Yahoo. I had like 15 groups, none of which were pornographic or had any offensive material. They deleted my user account but left a lot of the groups still open! Free to be swamped with porn ads and links to real pornographic websites. I can't even delete any of them! Plus I mailed them multiple times and they just don't have the need to want to respond to me.....not worth their time I guess..

I urge anyone who has been screwed by Yahoo, use the banner I made on your own signature and show your irritation!

Despite the confusion over MSN supposedly planning to move their adult groups to "Worldgroups.com," I still prefer MSN over any other free groups provider. Our adult MSN Group has been operating for over four years without any problems.

Because their message board allows html hotlinking, it's possible to post clickable photo thumbnails in messages, which alleviates their strict storage limits and image resizing. Video clips over 1 MB can be hosted on Rapidshare and linked in a post.

I should relate something that happened to me a while ago.
When I first wanted to create my own group, I was about to follow the trend, and have a Yahoo group like everybody and their undead puppy.

Then a few complaints started to trickle in; I think Gripped Chimp over TMF was the first to tell scary stories. Other followed.

So I looked around and - can't remember how, maybe after Val's advice - went and opened my page over Smartgroup.

...

No big deal, you might say, what's the point you deranged and hopelessly longwinded moron, you might say if you are that kind of people who say "moron" incessantly.

I'm coming to it if you don't mind.
Bide your time.

...

So, went and had... ok, you get the point.
Added my pics. Fiddled with the options. Let the group grow and live a life on its own.

...

Then something kicked in: I lost most of my interest in it.
To make a rather convoluted tale short, I forgot to renew the group, and, as per EULA or whatever the name, the guys over SG deleted it.

For a couple of days I scratched my chin, not sure about my next few steps.

Finally, I resolved to send a message through to their help center.
I politely pointed out I had never asked to have the group deleted, nor received a warning mail prior to deletion, and asked them to restore the group, if at all possible.

Well, maybe they had took pity on my laughably thin grasp of english.
Maybe it was the first polite message they had ever received.
Whatever.
The next day my group was there. Down to the last file and user profile.

As per Murphy's rule, my group will burn to ashes the very moment I press "Post Reply".

...

But I wanted to share this episode and thank the guys over SG for helping me out.

...

EDIT 01:

The groups is still there.
Thanks for asking.

EDIT 02:

Yep. Still there.

I use yahoo if I need an email address, like for registering. You never know what those people send. 😉

Anna and Heather you are correct. Yahoo is garbage but you are not. Both of you are tickle-angels who have chosen to grace this board. Please do so again and often! 😀
