Hey...the Red Sox have been hot, and the Yankees have been, to be charitable, very cold...what was a nine or so game lead, has now shrunk to 3 1/2. The other night, they got trampled by the Cleveland Indians by an unlikely score of 22-0 (sure to warm the cockles of anyone old enough to have been frustrated by losing to the Yanks with the likes of Mike Garcia, Bob Lemon, and Early Wynn on your staff).
I am kind of reminded of '78 a little...I haven't seen the sked for September, but if the Red Sox do come back for a visit to the Stadium, the proper mirror image would be if they had a four game series where they score something like 50 to 60 runs. Now, THAT would be a mirror image.
I'm not impressed with the Yankees. They don't have the pitching or the killer instinct to succeed. I don't think it's gonna happen.

oh my friends, tis not the end of the season yet. Yes the Sox are hot right now and the Yanks have gone on a bit of a slide but we still have plenty of season yet. I stand by my earlier claims of the Yanks winning the East, the sox may get the wildcard.

I was at last nights game, beautiful night, great game. Nice to see Karsay back...

Love you friendly ticklish neighborhood Yankee fan

Sorry, JPie, but your Yanks are doomed. Nobody is fearing them. Looks like Ray gets to do some tickling, after all😀

Did a little bit of finger work here...the number of runs (e.g. "mirror image" in my post above) the Yankees scored in the four game set at Fenway in September of 1978 forever known subsequently as the "Fenway Massacre" was 42. Fifteen runs in the first game, thirteen in the second, and seven each in games three and four.
The fourth game was very significant: it was that day that the Yankees passed Boston into first place, after being like 14 games back.
