This morning, in Japan....

Jerry Tuite, who worked under several different ring names including The Wall while in WCW, Malice for NWA: TNA, and currently Gigantes for All Japan Pro Wrestling passed away early Saturday morning after working the final show of a tour for All Japan.

This has been a disturbing trend, which started with the untimely death of Curt Hennig in February.....

This tops, to the best of my knowledge, 40 or so of my "brothers and sisters" in the wrestling biz that have died this year alone....

And those extremely heavy into drugs and alcohol, such as Jake Roberts and Scott Hall, continue to be the Keith Richards of the business, and outlive everyone else....

Go figure.

A sad holiday season indeed....:sowrong:

Got to admit, tho....I bet there's one heck of a card going on in Heaven right about now...

sad indeed. Hey Lazarus, did the WWE ever check you out? and did you ever want to work in Ohio Valley Wrestling, or in Louisville, where they are based?

I remember "The Wall" in WCW, BIG guy. Hey Laz, didn't he wrestle under another name in WCW before he became "The Wall"? I keep thinking it was a german character. (and no, not Alex Wright)

On another wrestling-related topic.....I just went to the wrestling site I normally go to...they announced Nathan Jones has just quit the WWE. A rumor, maybe?

Drew

no...

Jones did quit, and I personally talked on the phone with Paul Heyman twice in 1997/1998 about joining ECW...unfortunately, I didn't have a place to live in New York for 6 months for their training school-wheter or not a wrestler is trained, a federation will make you go thru their training for their fed...

Also, it is too late for me to try anything like that nowadays anyway, as too many surgeries, and I'm just looking foreward to my last match, and that's that.

I will be supporting my brother, who should be trying out for NWA-Wildside, located in Northern Illinois, sometime soon in the future.

Lazamania runnin' wild....

ps- The only wrestling I do now, is with Meems, trying to pin her to tickle those cute feet of hers....

😉

Also...

The Wall debuted as "The Wall", bodyguard for "Berlin", who was Alex "Das Wunderkind" Wright.

He later became A-Wall....

Sorry to hear about your hero,s death......

....but look on the bright side lazzy boy!! it will surely improve his acting skills no end.

yup wrestling careers can be short or long.

As for nathan jones. Well like all great talent is held back in wwe only to job out. nathan jones is a great martial arts expert. Nobody can showcase their true ability in the wwe. Just like the wwe can never have a short skilled wrestler.

ex: chris benoit

Um...yeah...ok...

Let's clear 2 things up now, before anything else gets said...

1. I have no "heroes"; I was commenting on the fact how yet another wrestling talent has died this year, and refered to those who have died as my "brothers and sisters", as we were all in the same profession, as it were.

2. I'm not sure who, or what, you were refering to about imporiving acting skills....

If it was about the deceased, then shame on you for talking ill about the dead...

If it was about my brother trying out for NWA-Wildside, well, he's been wrestling for many years now, just as I have....

The snide comment about "Acting skills"?

Call Marta Hart, up in Calgary, and ask her about her husband's "acting skills"

Just relax, take it easy, and post 1,239,435,273 more times about rugby....

40 people reated to wrestling have died in one year? That's an amazingly high number - what's up? I'm surprised Fabulous Moola is still around.....

It suck it realy does.

This is why a buntch of guy from a group called Colly Flower Ally have claimed that they will not work for Vince McMahon. I learned of this while listening to Live Audio Wrestling on Am 640. They are on that station every Sunday between 11:00 PM & 1:00 AM. You can also hear it at www.mojoradio.com . It's not a bad station overall as a matter of fact. As far as Nathan Jones goes, he sucks. If you watched him in the ring he showed no consern for the guys he was tossing around in there. Wresting is about making it look like you want to kill the other guy, not actualy killing the other guy. There was also drug use conected to quite a few of the recent deaths including Mr Perfect Curt Hennig, & Crash Holly. In fact it was the lack of respect from McMahon regarding Crash Holly that lead to those wrestler swearing off going to work for the WWE.

Well....

Vince McMahon is not entirely to blame....a VERY few wrestlers who were actually working for the WWE have died....

But Vince McMahon is still an (sorry mods) asshole.

A few of the deaths have been steroid related-Hawk is one....died from a heart attack, due to an enlarged heart from his early days of wrestling, and using 'roids....

The Califlower Alley club is a not-for-profit sponser, who uses yearly donations for helping the older wrestlers who have a hard time getting persriptions, health care, etc....

An EXTREMELY good cause, which I plan on getting a lifetime membership for, as soon as I get my tax return.

From your lips to God's ear.

He might be a creative wiz and know the biz inside out, but the man has less respect for some of his workers than Satan does for God.

Um...er...ohhh.....eee.......aye......

........well, my post was clearly a joke at the expense of professional wrestlers generally, who all seem to think their gifts as actors are wasted, throwing equally gifted thesbians around a ring.

Now, assuming your brother is still alive (hence his ability to "try out for NWA-wilde side") I hope I have been able to narrow down the options for you when you try to work out who I was talking about.

Unfortunatly I seem to have lost Marta Hart,s fone number, I used to play darts with her on wednesdays at the Crown and Cushion, but we lost touch somehow. I am sure she would see the funny side of my remarks, in the same way that she must be laughing her ass off at your quip about " I bet there's one heck of a card going on in Heaven right about now..." .....hillarious!!

As for my posts on rugby, how many do you think I have made? I have told you a million times before, dont exagerate.

I bet there's one heck of a card going on in Heaven right about now

A phrase of respect. Hardly a laughing matter, or one intended to produce a happy, giddy feeling.

Then again, when is death EVER a situation to poke fun?

Vince is just as responsable...

... as though he'd taken a gun and shot them. The WWE has no off season, unlike conpanies in Japan that give wrestler's time of after tours. Vince never tell you to take steroids but lets face it, ho much effort is he putting into to trying to stop guys. The guys who take the high risk actions are the ones who get the push, but they are also the ones who get hurt, end up on pain killers, and die from drug related causes.

It's like Bret Hart said, Vince treats his wrestler like Circus animal, and when he's done with you they take you out back and shoot you.

Red Indian...

Understand that I had not taken your post originally as a joke; think of how many times I have had to hear at job interview, from fans, from nay-sayers...."is it fake?
It doesn't really hurt, does it? You're all just actors, right?"

I have been doing this since I was 12 years old....I have had I don't know how many concussions, bruises, broken bones, surgeries, operations, etc...

Fake? Not a chance in Hell. The pain is real. Pre-determined? Yes. Just like the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, and every other pro sport out there. Difference is, we don't pussy out with a hangnail, or a sprained ankle.

I was in a match in Ashland, Wisconsin, in 1999. I was hit with a minivan traveling about 20 miles an hour. Fake? Nope. I knew it was coming. Hurt? Like a son of a bitch.

I should have taken your comments as the way they were intended; as a joke, a rib, immature, what have you. I didn't, and responded in a way beneath me. Is this an apology. Yes, for my response, and for my response only.

And just keep in mind, my comment about There must be one heck of a wrestling card in Heaven right now, was meant in, and with, the UTMOST respect I could utter, and I someday hope to be on that card.

Alot of great men and women have died, leaving behind husbands, wives, children, and in some cases parents.

That's hilarious? I'm happy I don't share your sense of humor.

I have said what I wanted to say; I refuse to comment on any other assinine remarks...

Just like being a Lee or Ler, or enjoying whips and chains, or hot wax, or whatever your personal fetish(es) are, to each your own.

Again, I apologize for my snarky and snappy comeback. Some people and comments just set me the wrong way; but in the future, I will do my best to handle others' sophomoric remarks more maturely, as is my nature.

My apologies to those who were put off by my original reply....

Stating my opinions, standing behind them, and not giving one damn bit who they may or may not offend....

Laz

ps....

Vince IS pushing the steroids, as he insists that a push won't happen unless you're a big guy....

Examples:
Hogan
HHH
Warrior
Ahmed Johnson
Rick Rude

among many others, as opposed to utilizing GREAT talent, such as:

Chris Jericho
Chris Benoit
Booker T
Kanyon
and just about every other WCW and ECW guy he "aquired"

I had the chance to juice when I was 15....

Grant you, I was tempted, and regreted turning it down for years, until I learned about the SEVERE side effects they harbor:

EXTREME TEMPERMENT-"Roid Rage"
Hair loss
Shriveled testicles and low sperm counts
Severe acne
many heart problems

among others.

I'm happy with what I've done, and would do it all over again, nothing different, given the chance.

I attribute negative comments to ignorance....

I've said more than my piece....

Time to shut up.

So I will...

🙂

Yet Another Steroid..

Head actor dies. Big whup. It's no big loss. I'll whip any Pro "wrestler" anytime, anywhere, anyhow. Then again I was a real pro athlete. Not an actor.

Ah....

Speaking of immature, sophomoric comments....

Here comes the master....

Lazarus, I agree with everything you said. You were right on point. However, there is one thing I do disagree about. HHH isn't on steroids. The man practically lives in the gym and if you saw his evolution(no pun intended), he was always muscular. Its just that his muscles are more ripped and defined. Sure wish you could've went to ECW. Seems like you're style could have fit in well

It's difficult to argue who's on steroids or not without having the results of a drug test in hand, except in blatantly obvious cases (hellooooo, Mister Steiner!). But it's hard for me not to believe that Triple H hasn't used them. Remember when he came back from his quad injury at the start of last year? The man was huge -- and not in the good way, more the Steinerian way. He's lost a lot of unnecessary mass since then, but I can't believe that physique isn't chemically aided.

(It's not just the huge, super-ripped guys who are using them, either. For instance, Eddie Guerrero has put on a lot of bulk fast since he joined WWE, and he's often sporting suspicious patches of acne on his chest or back...)

Unfortunately for WWE, they're caught in a vicious cycle. Their booking has trained fans to believe that big guys are the important ones, while smaller, faster guys are wimps -- the occasional exception, like Rey Mysterio, notwithstanding. That means there's a constant demand for more big men, whether they're good or not -- and a constant pressure on the wrestlers to get big, however they do it.

As for Nathan Jones, good. I hope John Heidenreich follows his example; watching Heidenreich nearly cripple Stevie Richards twice has made him my new least favorite wrestler. But hey, Heidenreich is big, so he must be good! Right?

No loss to the world you care about, but a big loss to his friends, colleagues and any family he might have left behind. I imagine the world of engineering would carry on regardless if you dropped dead tomorrow. So you might be able to whip most of them, but get charged with going out and putting on a credible performance in front of 10,000 rasslin fans and you'd die on your arse. What does an ex-naval special ops guy being better at fighting than a wrestler prove? Not much. What does him mentioning it every time someone mentions the word "wrestling" prove? That he thinks being a better fighter makes him a bigger man. What does that prove? That he's as thick as pigshit and twice as runny. Either that or he has incredibly low self-esteem that he can only bolster by taking pot-shots at what is a legitimately hard and body-wrecking profession. (Far higher than professional football I might add.)

Tron you're neither thick nor low on self confidence, as you've proved lately. Some of the recent discussions I've seen you involved in have made me wonder if Solomon was reborn! So for Christ's sake stop being so bloody childish.

Whats that Mimi???........

....."when is death ever a situation to poke fun?"......blimey, er, most of the time I think. I recently gave a eulogy at the funeral of my best friend, it was very humourus and greatly enjoyed by all, including his familly who all asked for copies of the speech. Maybe its just a brit thing.

My Point Is...

They aren't athletes nor are they all that tough. I won't lose any sleep over a druggie actor losing his life because of decisions HE made. That's not being childish. Anything a Pro "Wrestler" can do, I can do better, give me 3 months, I'll put on just as "credible" a show as any steroid head. And I'll do it without steroids.

Most of them are tougher than any civillian who's ever walked the street. All of them are a darn sight more athletic. Even that fat git from Canada who used to be Golga and Earthquake.

No, it isn't. I also have no sympathy for someone who knowingly takes roids, knowing the risks and the possible consequences. That's their decision and their responsibility.

What is childish is this increasingly infantile obsession of yours to insult anyone who's ever been in the business, whenever the word wrestling is mentioned. No matter how obscure the reference or what context it's in, you post saying how they're all pussies and how easy it would be for you to kick their arses in any alley, bar or ring in the world. Maybe it's true, maybe you could. Whatever; it was infantile to start with Mike and now it's becoming boring. You think you could kick any of their arses; we get it already! We got it the first two hundred and forty eight times you told us. You remind me of some silverback gorilla beating his chest on a mountain top to demonstrate how tough he is. Maybe you are that tough; you just don't have to sound like a 5 year old in a playground espousing it.

That would indeed be an interesting bet. Sadly it's very hard to see it happening. Of course you could just go into a wrestling school for the hell of it and land a contract within 3 months because it's all so "easy". Personally I don't think you could do it any more than you could do 3 months at RADA and then out-perform Mel Gibson or Sir Ian McKellan in front of the camera.
