In 2025, the Dodgers have the highest payroll in MLB at $350,300,236. They have a disappointing record at 93-69, making the playoffs but obliged to play in the Wild Card round.

In 2025, the Mets have the second highest payroll in MLB at $342,377,486. They didn't make the playoffs at all.

Teams that made the playoffs include the Guardians with a payroll of only $100,365,031 and the Tigers with a payroll of only $107,268,118.

Buying a World Series championship is harder than most fans imagine.
