Your favorite thing from the 80's / 90's?

The music!

There was a program last night over here on the top 20 favourite songs of the decade, it was great to sing along to 🙂

Action sports - skate board, roller blades, and my personal favorite BMX got a huge following. Prolly was bigger back than it is today!

Agree with cartoons. Hey Arnold, Rugrats, Simpsons (in its heyday), Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken (I seem to be in a minority of people who love Cow and Chicken), and my personal favourite, Animaniacs.

Also the games. PS1 games haven't necessary aged that well (with some exceptions), but the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) and the SNES, and even the Sega Master System and the NES, had some absolute classics. Street Fighter 2, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Megaman, all those great Kirby games, even the more obscure ones like Super Hang On, Columns, Aladdin, Animaniacs, Jurassic Park (Rampage Edition), and the only sports game I ever really loved, World Cup Italia 1990.

There are a lot of things from the 90's I miss, but Disney channel being good is a biggie xD I didn't have friends outside of school much, so tv in general...Sailor Moon, Aladdin, Tiny Toons, gameshows like Figure It Out and Legends of the Hidden Temple...so many good shows xD

I need to go to youtube now!

The soul music and alternative rock of the 80's and 90's, which I listen to every day thanks to Internet radio 🙂

Oh yeah, thank goodness for internet radio, iheartradio and youtube 😀 Current music is good and all but there's nothing like the nostalgia you get from an oldie :wub

I wasn't alive to enjoy most of those days. I was actually born roughly 8.5 minutes before I joined this site. I'm four now.

Uz all iz old.

Being born!
...I'm too young to be a nineties kid... ;_;

But seriously, probably the music of the eighties and the cartoons of the nineties.

Allow us to educate you on our most holiest of decades.

Also, Gushers, paper fortune tellers, and that panic attack you had when your No.2 pencil tip broke in the middle of a test and the sharpener was electric.

Holy crap Lite-Brites. I remember my dad and I working on one, I think it was a clown...for so long...days and days because I was five or so and wasn't very dexterous. I don't remember why I left home for a few days, but I do remember coming home and my dad having finished it T_T I was so happy!

You know, I think I had something kind of like Lite Brite when I was really little. No idea what happened to it...
As for that particular panic attack, I think that experience transcends decades; I've felt it many, many a time myself... XD

I had seen a Lite Brite only once in my youth in Thailand but really wanted one. I did have an Etch-A-Sketch, however, but that's more 70's than 80's 😉

My friend had a lite brite or a knock off, seen it while building things with Lego's! Lego's are still popular but with all the tech kids have today I would have to think NOT NEARLY as much as in the 90's

Hmmm. Hard to pin down a favorite thing. I loved my childhood though. Endless hours of tinkering with legos, taking toys apart and putting them back together, fooling around with 9 volt batteries and wires. And oh the tickle fights!

Fav TV Shows from my childhood (based on what has influenced me to this day):

Mr. Wizard
Beekman's World
Bill Nye the Science Guy
3-2-1 Contact
Square One
The Electric Company
Sesame Street
The Crystal Maze
Villa Alegre
Today's Special

Any many many others

And of course, the assorted cartoons and movies with the odd tickle scene that set me on the path that I am on today.

*nostalgia chills*

I'm kind of put off by all the "kits" of LEGOs that's come out, the pre-determined results and such. Remember the days when a solid set of LEGOs consisted of a giant waxy bag filled with five or six different colors of generic-shaped pieces? No instructions, no gizmos...just a clattery mess of rectangles and squares.

Those were the good ol' days.

Ohh Ive never seen um like that as a kid, Dalek. All the ones I had were car sets. lol All of um came with directions too. A few had several different "complete" stages but those didnt go step by step. In the later stages though it was like mass was more important than quantity, wider and taller with a tenth the pieces =/

I dunno, I kind of like those sets. Whenever I used to get one, I'd first build whatever it was according to the directions and play with it for a while, but then I'd dismantle it and simply add the pieces to my collection. Then I'd have all the cool, newer pieces to add to the classic bricks. I'd build a human-robot-looking guy from bricks, and then make him into Dr. Octopus with crane arms, or I'd make a whole city with the basic buildings made of bricks, and embellishments out of antennae and spinny-rotating bits.
I also used to augment my Lego stuff with rubber bands and strings to make cool little contraptions and stuff.
Ah, Legos... my childhood was made of thee... XD

Movies for sure, all of my favorite ones were made in the 80s or 90s. And as weird as it sounds, I loved 80 and 90's commercials. Being a kid there was always fun mascots and the like.
