Since I was a little kid I've always wanted to draw a predator, but my skills just weren't good enough. I've always liked the predators and the series itself, including the movies. And with the recent release of AVP, I just couldn't resist this unfilled childhood urge!

But now I can. I drew this from little more than a scanned still from the movie and the rest was pure memory of how the predators look.

No need for talk, I'm too excited. 😀

omg totally cool. have you seen the movie yet? totally awesome. i play AVP 2 the game alot. it's a very good pic, i notice the redness is the witness as a predator looking at him without the mask, as in the first movie?

If by movie, you mean the originals, yes I have. I have the first one and am going to buy the second this weekend if I can. If you mean AVP, yes, I've seen that too and have already given my critique of the movie in a thread for it in our General Discussions forum. Go take a look if you want. 🙂

Yeah. Since the predators see primarily only heat signatures, they need the masks to neutralize heat and cold so they can tell the difference. Also, the helmet, as you know, has the targeting sight and such for their shoulder-mounted phase cannon.

As for a person or even anothe predator seeing this one through the eyes of a predator, no, actually thats not what I was getting at. Although it would be interesting. Its really as simple as saying I thought because they see in red and he has his mask off, that it would look better if I hued the picture with red.

It looks a hell of a lot better this way than keeping it black and white, and it even brings out some of the details better. 🙂


Finally, I plan on drawing more predators since I've drawn this first one now, finally. I plan on drawing some female predators too. Yes, they were in the second movie briefly if you were paying attention. And we saw two of them in detail as they wer standing next to the commander (one on both sides) as he approached and spoke to Harrigan (Danny Glover).

So to answer your question, I'm pretty sure I will be drawing Aliens as well. It doesn't seem natural not to now. These two races have been going at it in the series for some time now. In fact, the games are based on the comic series. And it was so popular that it even crossed forces with Batman and was part of a spin-off, where Batman got between a fight with a predator and an alien. 🙂

hehe, sounds like the predator commander is a pimp, 2 females next to him like that, lol
if you ever decide to draw a xenomorph (alien), think you can draw the "hero" alien from AVP, the one who has the netted design on his head from the pred's net? or even the queen.

but damn, loved that movie sooooooo much. best part was when was Alex was trapped under the water tank as the queen was trying to get her, and the pred did that sweet mid-air twist and shoved the spear in her head. that part had the whole theater cheering.

but seriously, yur an awesome, and flexible artist, keep it up.

@ Master Cartman- I'm pretty sure they were female, as I'm pretty sure they have breasts and nipples, and their waists were more thin and there were just small nuances that told me they are most likely female. Either that or they are extremly young predators, but I think they were female.

As for him being a pimp? That would be funny, but I think its just part of the ritual of taking one of their fallen. Its like in a military ceremony, the commander is often flanked by two or more officers as he or she approaches the casket or seating area.

Or it could be for his protection. Not that he needs it. But those two females or whomever they were could have been his person body guards.

Yeah, I think it was cool when he did that twist in the air and drove that spear into her head. Major skills there. 😎

I'd love to draw an alien queen someday. That should be really cool. I used to have the alien queen toy and some other aliens when I was a kid. Its a shame I didn't at least keep the queen. Ah well. Its not like I need it anymore anyways.

Thank you again for the compliments. I'm glad I'm trying to be flexible. If I wasn't and didn't draw different things, things would get pretty boring and redundant.

This picture is way out of the norm of what I'd regularly draw. I mean come up, its a stark contrast between cute and sexy and mean and ugly! LOL ^^

I'm glad most of all that this childhood goal has been fulfilled. ^__^

yeah, those alien toys got wacky though.... i remember i had one named the gorrilla alien and a cobra alien that could spit acid. and some other wierd ones like that. wish i coulda got the queen. but that ceremony was a very good, to honor the dead, made preds more noble and honorable. but i love the preds weapon upgrades in AVP. the net that winds itself was a surefire winner. the new disc... so cool. Paul W.S. Anderson said he wanted pred's plasma guns in different calibers, but all i saw was, alien there, BOOM.... alien gone. hehe

Yeah, I had the "scorpion" alien too. Its the one that explodes.

As for the movie, yeah, the predator weopon and equipment upgrades were really neat. It wasn't much of a change from what we saw in Predator 2 though. From the first to the second one was where the real change happened. There were no disks or spears in the first one, nor was there a net I think. The real breakthough as far as improvements came in the second one I think.

Even if they hadn't had these improvements, I still think the series would have done extremely well. The predators alone are very original. Although the new upgrades and goodies make it more interesting. 😀

yeah that's right, it does have alot of changes. it especially showed his medical devices in detail. also the ship was great, with the skull collection, including the alien skull. but why did the preds give danny glover's character the pistol from the 1700's?
i really liked the ending to AVP. with the predator chestburster, lol. if ya follow the games or books, you'll know it's gonna be a Predalien, one serious bad*ss motherf*cker.

He gave the gun to him as a sign of respect, much the same way the female lead in AVP was given the commander's personal spear.

Whenever prey or a warrior, human or not, proves themselves to the predators they not only let them live, but impart on them a gift. A token for their valor in combat and in the hunt. They've somehow proven themselves worthy.

As for the new pred/alien spawn, it could be immediately killed, so who knows. I doubt it would get far with the security censors everywhere. And even if it did manage to kill a few predators, its outnumbered and would eventually be killed. Even if it somehow could invest another predator and create a new spawn, these preds could be isolated from the rest, or simply killed to maintain security.

If this new spawn somehow plays a part in a sequel, then we're to assume that it laid low on the ship and then ran away once the ship touched down on their homeworld, or wherever the destination was.

@ MC- To be honest, I'm going to wait until it comes out on dvd to see it again. I honestly don't think its worth going to the theater again to see it. What it would cost for you to see it, and maybe get a drink, if even that, you could buy the dvd and see it whenever you want for free thereafter.

It must be a big coincidence! I watched the first Predator movie the other night, someone else watched it the same night I uploaded the picture, and now you have seen the second one now. What were the chances of that? Wow.

the theatre i went to was cheap, $3 admission, and 50 cents popcorn, and 50 cents drink special they had today, so it was worth the $4.

it's amazing the stuff you catch that you missed on the first time around. i didn't realize the main girl (alex) the those famous words... You're one ugly motherf*cker! in this movie too, but with a little extra oomph that made it all the sweeter. and the timing was bad, just the short time from being facehugged to a complete drone. seemed it took 15 or 30 minutes to get a drone from facehugger stage, and that's a record for mother nature, lol. seemed on the original alien move it took almost a month. didn't realize til now just how detailed the clan leader looked, with the age wrinkles, cape,longer dreads, etc. i REALLY hope they make a predator 3, i'd see that movie on the drop of a hat.

LOL, I was just about to update this thread again but you posted and refreshed it anyway.

Anyways, I was going to say I bought Predator 2 on dvd today, just finished watching it a while ago, and I must say that I've made a mistake. A huge one.

There were no female predators at the end of the movie. I didn't need to pause it or anything to make sure, as it was clear they were no female.

So I guess my eyes as a child played tricks on me. I guess its because those predators seemed thinner or more lean than the others.

Ah well. Honest mistake. I'm still going to draw female predators, assuming they do in fact have them among their species. If they are A-sexual then that ruins it.

As for the pred general, I'm pretty sure he's the same one from Predator 2, the one in AVP I mean. He would seem he always stays on the ship and sort of oversees the whole operation. Whether its one predator or a group of them on a hunt.

If there is a Predator 3 it would be really cool to learn more about him, and maybe even see him in action. His appearance is very distinguishable, so he wouldn't get confused with any of the other preds.

And maybe we'll learn these predators have names and maybe we'll learn them.

I sure hope theres a third movie. Afterall, they left us hanging with-

hehe, yeah, no female, interested what you make them look like, assuming since it seems preds are like tribes of old, the females just are for cooking, cleaning, and making babies, hehe. but u said those were thinner preds? in the game i play, AVP 2 for pc, they got different class a preds, the light, faster preds are thinner like that, the ones from AVp the movie are clearly heavy preds, well armored, and built like an 8 foot bull.

i can just imagine a pred family, the wife naggin the hubby, the hubby has the look on his face like he wants to eat a plasmacaster, lol.

oh, and another reason why AVP is sooooo better than freddy vs. jason, is not 1 person tripped or acted stupid in the movie, lol.

But I'm rather interested in the idea that the females do in fact hunt. Sort of like how it is with the lions. Its the females that actually do the hunting mostly.

Obviously, it seems the other way around with the preds, but I should hope that the females aren't so shallow and held back.

Either way, I'm drawing females and noone's gonna stop me! BWWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!! 😀

so if your doing it like lions, and lionesses are the hunters, but for preds, male hunt, does that make the females rule over everything, and get to eat first? it'd be funny if you make the female preds actually kinda hot, even if the males are ugly motherf*ckers.

Yes, actually. It could very well be that females among their race are held in honor and with respect. They could be running the show for all we know and their very leaders, if they have any kind of government or system, may be female too.

The fact we know nothing about them allows us to some freedom in what to draw.

I was already planning on making the female preds looking somewhat attractive, but deadly all the same. The obvious thing that would ruin it almost immediately is their faces. I don't imagine they look any different than the males. So it may be better to draw them with the masks on, since the masks look sleak and cool. Although I'd draw them without the masks anyway as surely there is something I could do to make even their faces look more feminine than the males.

yeah, mask on would be cool. or you could do an overhaul on the face. maybe more prominent cheeck bones, smaller mandibles that can when the mouth is shut, can go closer to the face, thus almost hiding the fact she has mandibles (sorta like the movie Mimic 3)
also, the eyes may not be so deep set, and a full head of longer dreads (no bald spots up front) maybe a paler less green skin and blue eyes. heck, if i had any skills at all at drawing, i'd draw a sketch. but honestly i'd like to see her without mask, and a facial overhaul.
