December 21st is supposedly Jim Gardner's last newscast before he retires from his anchor position which he has held for 45 years at WPVI TV in Philadelphia , PA.
I first got into watching Jim in the early 2000s, when I lived in Lancaster, PA.
I have lived in NYC since 2012.
TMF Jeff was the one who initially found me the link to WPVI just before I moved from Lancaster.
I was thrilled when Jeff found me this link, and felt so fortunate.
Knowing my rather .. weak computer skills, it probably would have taken me a while to find it on my own, or maybe I never would have found it at all lol.
One week from tomorrow, Wednesday, December 21, Jim will deliver his last newscast from the anchor desk in Philadelphia, and then he will sign off around 630 that night, and he will not be back on the air to anchor a newscast.
I wish Jim an excellent retirement.
There are many posts on Facebook from both Jim's fans, and his co workers at WPVI in Philadelphia, at how much everyone who works with him, and who watches him, will miss him, including me.
Watching Jim has gotten me through some very difficult times in my personal life. During my late beloved mother's battle with cancer, during the time I lived in the apartment for almost three months alone in the apartment we shared after my mother passed away in April 2012, until I loved to NY in June of that year, during my battles with the Epilepsy that sometimes feels like it's ruining my life.
During all those times, watching Jim to be informed, entertained, to have a distraction from my serious medical problems and other life problems, and in every time inbetween, Jim has been there to get me through it all.
Goodbye, Jim. Thank You. Good Luck to you and your family, and in your well deserved retirement.
You will be missed greatly by this fan, and so many others like me, whose lives you have touched.
