I thought it best I posted this here instead of in the main forum. It's one of the few negative things that's happened to me recently, in an otherwise, hopefully God willing upswing, after such a long period of difficulty.
Others who read my posts in the past, are aware of how difficult my friend Barney can be. Bottom line: My other friends, and relatives, and even Maria, whatever she is to me, greatly dislike him. Maria has met him because he has eaten in the place she works at, with me.
On Wednesday night, before I found out from Professor H that my exam was postponed, Barney called me at 11pm, after I had a day of studying, was tired, and knowing I had the day long seminar yesterday, and, the exam today. His words to me were...
"My mom wants to see you, so we're going to see her on Saturday, and bringing her a box of KFC Extra Crispy Chicken for us all to eat".
What arrogance. Did he really think that the night before a day long review course, and 36 hours before my exam, that my mind would be on his mother, and her "Extra Crispy Chicken"?
I said "Barney, I have my review course, and exam. How can you call me at 11pm at night, and go on about this trivial shit".
When I hung up the phone, I was pissed.
His other "Plan" was to go to a fancy Chinese place with me, and disinclude my friend Adam, expecting me to join in with him to hurt Adam's feelings.
I was pissed as hell, and promptly fired off two e-mails to him, telling him to shove his plan to hurt my friend, and his dictating to me what to do, and what to eat, straight up his fat ass! (Although I didn't say fat ass)
Everyone who heard about this, from Adam, to my dad, my aunts, and even Maria, think he is completely clueless, and rude.
My feeling: He wanted to distract me, to intentionally make it so I'd be upset, and screw up my exam.
I wont be seeing him tomorrow, or Monday, and will instead be meeting my friend Adam on Monday, sans Barney.
Maria was so pissed when she heard this, that she thought I should tell Barney to go fuck himself permanently. I don't like many things about him, but.., after losing my now ex best friend of 30 years, in 2010, such isn't easy. I know Barney 21 years, and would rather not lose another two decade plus friendship.
I don't know what happens next. I plan to ignore him, and concentrate on my exam.
He truly has issues. I'm reminded of the time his sister was mugged in Hong Kong, and didn't want to call her mother halfway around the world to worry the mother. Barney's sister called him, and asked him to loan her money, and he refused, so the sister was forced to call their mother. Siblings were talking to each other, so it wasn't like they were estranged.
I'm just going to let him stew in his own juice. I will study this weekend, and go to the casino myself. He can be
with his "Extra Crispy Chicken".
