Oh wow...umm...this is a shocker.
I didn't get to go to my math class today because, well, my mom has to go to the hospital. Right now we're back at the house and she's packing her things because it looks like it's gonna be an overnight stay...maybe two. She doesn't know how long she'll be there. She had just called her doctor earlier and she's been diagnosed with something called diabetic ketoacidosis. It's a condition where her body isn't producing any glucose, so it's burning the fat in her body instead of the glucose. Turns that this causes a buildup of compounds in the bloodstream called ketones. They did a urine test with her the other day and found amounts of ketones in there.
Which...isn't good. So yeah, ketoacidosis is basically the extreme form of ketosis and it can be fatal if not treated. So right now she's going to the hospital so she can get her blood sugars at a normal level. She's been living with abnormally high blood sugar levels for years, but she's been ignoring the bad symptoms in order for her to remain strong to look after me and my brother, as well as to take care of her own work.
She's assured me not to panic, as this hospital trip is a sure way for her to get back to normal. And we have both agreed that I won't worry about her as long as she doesn't worry about me. 😀 She's gonna give me and my brother some emergency cash so we can make quick trips to the store and maybe order pizza if needed. So, no I'm not writing this blog entry for comfort or advice or anything. Just 'cause I'm dazed and confused, I guess. XD And writing helps me sort out my feelings...
Damn...looks like my next blog entry would be random, after all. lol
