An aspiring photographer asked me these questions the other night, and I though I would post them here, as they may very well be useful for anyone else who is getting started in photography, bondage, or a combination of the two.
"How long have you been doing bondage photography? Did you find out it and horror films and books?"
I started Viper Productions in June of 2007, with my then-girlfriend, Troy. Not her real name, but you understand. Anyway, I've been interested in "voyeuristic" activities since I was in high school, having made a few sex tapes and bondage videos with my lovers of yesteryear. As I came into my own in the BDSM scene, I decided to show off my blooming skills as a sadist and a tickler by making videos - and it exploded in front of me, turning into a very lucrative business, when I put enough time and effort into it.
"Where did you learn to tie up models?"
As I said in the last paragraph, I've been doing kinky shit since I was still in school. I started off using neckties to bind the wrists and ankles of my partners to the legs of the bed, and as the years passed, I learned about pressure points, my partner's comfort, and what is condusive to a fun and safe bondage experience. Proper bondage can be either taught by a teacher or learned on your own, but without proper guidance, one must take extra care in making sure to be safe with their kinky experiments.
"What type of rope would you suggest for rope work. Nylon, cotton, hemp, or other?"
Everyone has their own opinions on this, and everyone's results will vary based on their personal preferences. I started out with neckties, simply enough, but as I started collecting more and better toys, I moved onto ropes. With the proper technique, braided nylon rope is the cheapest and most effective kind of rope to use for bondage, and it looks pretty nice too. You can buy it at any major hardware store (rhymes with "Bows" or "Dome Repo"), but you can also find colored nylon rope online. Hemp is good if you want the uber-strength rope (good for suspension bondage) and cotton is the most comfortable for the person being bound, but the hardest to unknot, in my experience.
"Why did you choose fetish or bondage photography?"
Because I love bondage, and I love photography and videography. A very simple answer.
"What type of computer do you use to create and edit photos and videos? Mac or PC?"
I personally use a super-overpowered PC that I custom-built myself. As a network analyst and computer engineer, I have the knowledge and experience to do something like that, and I have more than enough access to the parts I need to build it. Then again, I also use my PC for many, many other taskt that a Mac would be hard pressed to perform.
"As someone who is starting out here, are there models who will pose for bondage shoots with tfp/cd as payment? Or should I save up my cash to hire a one?"
It really depends on what you're looking for. It is not easy to find women who are willing to be tied up by a complete stranger without getting paid for it. To get started, you need to establish yourself, which will most likely involve saving up a little dough to hand over to a model who knows that "business is business."
I hope these answers have helped you, and please feel free to ask any other questions you may have.
