To be entirely clear, I feel as if I can confidently say I’m not ashamed to be into tickling! I love the way it makes me feel and the nature of it is just so sweet and fluffy to me, I honestly do not understand why it’s considered a ”taboo” fetish it really isn’t that freaky. However, I don’t exactly know how to like express this to my partners. Maybe because of how people view it is why I get so embarrassed to say it upfront, but even then I have kinks and fetishes that are ACTUALLY weird and feel little to no shame/embarrassment when I bring them up.

Now that I’m actually really thinking about it I have always felt this way in regards to tickling. Even before I had established it as a fetish I’ve always felt this wave of embarrassment and almost fear whenever it was brought up, but I still love and desire to experience it. Maybe this is entirely just rooted in insecurity or maybe it’s something else idrk, but like whatever it is I need it to go tf away 😭

Am I crazy? I feel pretty fuckin crazy.

Are you into receiving tickling or giving tickling? I’m a switch, although more into actually doing the tickling to someone else.

It be like that sometimes honestly, the innate and inexplicable sense of flustering we get seeing tickling even before we fully recognize our fetish. And there’s still so much we might not know until we explore certain avenues but it’s nice to know that we’re not alone here feeling weird at times for liking something that’s so otherwise common in the world for different reasons.

Being shy or inward about a tickling kink is very common. Of all the kinks and people with them that I've been exposed to and had conversations with others about, tickling is probably one of, if not the most that people are guarded about–certainly historically anyway. While I don't know exactly why that is, I suspect it's a combination of several factors:
  1. It's often culturally seen as childish, and so often silly or inappropriate for adults to engage in with each other.
  2. It relies heavily on the emotional center of the brain, giving the sense of a deep, intimate vulnerability.
  3. It's a fairly innocent-seeming activity but in kink form. Most people would assume that they should feel more comfortable sharing it because of that, but for many, it makes it harder. Vanillas often don't get the kink world at a core level, but they have an idea of some of the activities and accept most of the stereotypes. Kinksters aren't vanilla, but they understand and accept vanillas for their preferences. But both vanillas and Kinksters alike can feel distant to the uncanny valley of seemingly innocent but kinky, which tickling falls right in the center of.
The wider kink community is much more accepting of all kinks these days than it once was. But I still think the above factors, as well as others, affect a lot of ticklephiles' sense of comfort when wanting to share with others.

I’m also a switch! The side I wanna be on depends on my general mood at the time so as of lately I’ve been in the receiving mood

Wow that’s awesome! No shame here. Sometimes I’m in a receiving mood also.
I have some play partners that really like to dish out thorough tickling, and it can be fun to receive. All our sessions include bondage for the lee, and tickling is administered on bare skin. I find it SUPER FUN to have a play partner with their arms strapped down above their head and armpits exposed to receive light, gentle tickling that drives them insane. No shame on admitting I’m not shy to be on the receiving end of that either.

I'm also a switch, but if I'm being honest I prefer to be on the receiving end when I can lose myself to the manipulations of the ler.
