First Blood was a great movie, with a surprising amount of depth considering where the series ended up going.

The dialogue is good, and the plot, again unlike the later Rambo movies, is pretty believable. You could imagine a Green Beret, with the advantage of being in the woods, being a serious problem for a bunch of small town cops and unprepared National Guardsmen. It's a little harder to believe the same guy fighting off an entire division of the Vietnamese Army. 🙂

Stallone said in an interview that he had to really fight to get all the talking into the final scene of the movie, in the original script there was apparently none of that.
