I'll just put this here.
I posted earlier in the week how the new Windows Update completely screwed up my computer.
I had tried every suggestion from friends who are more tech savvy than I am. to clean out the problem, different adware cleaners, virus scanners, etc.
Finally, on Thursday, I gave up, and decided to call a computer specialist.
The guy was at my apartment yesterday for about 90 minutes, and gave the machine a professional cleaning.
He said that my computer was loaded with adware.
There were ads popping up all over the place, on Youtube, etc.
When he finished, the situation seemed.. "better", but it still seems like some adware is on the computer
A friend who is tech savvy told me last night, that even professional cleanings, get only a part of the adware problem fixed.
I had never had a problem with ads until this problem hit last Sunday. It sounded to me from what the guy said that there were ads in the background which were there for a long time, which did not affect the computer with visible popups, at least not until last week. .
I've watched a couple of things on Youtube , and so far, thankfully, the ads seem to be. gone there.
However, when I go to.. the WPVI website for example, I'm still getting ads.
Thus, I came up with the idea of enlarging the computer to full screen. Doing that at least does not have ads popping up.
This computer is four years old. The guy said that there is no "usual time frame" of how long a computer lasts.
I'm hoping.. at some point soon, to be able to afford an Ipad or another notebook computer, and maybe be able to sell this machine, and another computer I've had for a while, that never really worked because the sound system is frozen/corrupted. Let them take it for whatever its worth, or for parts, and will put the money toward a newer computer.
I was looking online about how much a used computer would cost from like a refurbished computer site.
I know that new computers or such can be expensive. I would be willing to get one that's a few years old, as long as it worked, and was without the adware.
Some of the ones listed, were.. 7 to 10 years old. I'd like to get something a bit more updated than that.
I guess I 'll just use this one , and hopefully it will last for a while, until I can either buy a new one, or really updated one, a year or two old, and then that will hopefully resolve the problem.
Hopefully, if I can get a bit more use out of this computer. (Hopefully no longer than a matter of months). After that. I hope to get newer machine of some kind.
